H. Walker, Utah station director. These losses have been attributed to dusting alfalfa during the blossom stage with high concentrations of DDT. While scientists of the U. S. department of agriculture and ' the experiment station have found that alflalfa seed yields have been increased as much as 600 percent by the use of five percent DDT to control lygus, this insecticide should be used before the alfalfa is in bloom.
