We do not have in mind, the bottle between org adzed labor and Industry. We are not thinking of the 40 hour week and overtime pay. We are about to speak of the battle between the 12 million of the union group and of the 40 million American workers who do not belong to any union. When our forefathers drew up the Declaration of Independence, they naturally assumed that Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness Included the Free Right to s Work. It is fundamental in human relationships to depend on leadership from one or more members of the group and it is this leadership which lias distinguished the American Dad. The governor himself does not always respond to the celebration of his day for he is in most cases an individual who takes his place as a matter of course and goes about his job knowing that he has a direct responsibility to the maiden he married and to the children die was responsible for bringing into the world. Merry-Go-Roun- d 5:30--Swi- eO-Sundo- wn : Merry-Go-Rou- , 1 OUR SOGGY PUBLIC MIND It is abundantly clear that the smiling face of the farmer, the business man and the worker of Cache Valley has gone somewhere. In fact it seems that the public mind is a bit soggy. We are not only looking for the proverbial hole in the doughnut but we are expecting it to grow larger. There is one certain thing and that is that we are here in the midst of an agricultural area which has not been touched by the boom prosperity of national defense projects. We used to lovingly refer to our valley as The Garden Spot of the Rockies but now it seems that we have lost our enthusiasm for that. We may not get the influx of workers; we may see no war construction but we still have the assurance that now as well as when this emergency is over we have one of the finest communities in the world. The fact that other towns are amassing huge profits just doesnt pay off so far as we are concerned. What the other man deposits in a bank never did give his neighbor an automatic checking account. We would get further if we stiffened our lip and shrugged our shoulders and complete the job we now7 have at hand. It may get us much further if chambers of commerce, civic clubs together with business and professional men would canvass wrhat we can do rather than mourn over what we have no chance to do in the development of Cache county. It was too wet to go out, so Peggy and Eric sat by the nursery fire and told each other what they would do when they gTew up. X shall have a motor car, a lovely one, said Peggy. So shall I," said Eric. And a marvellous wireless set--a ten- - valve one, went on Peggy, So shaR I, said Eric. 'And I shaU havea party every night in the year! Peggy told him.-SshaU I! chanted Eric.
