McAllister to be given by the Intermountain High School Demonstra-ito- n Band during its three-wee- k period cf training at the Utah State Agricultural college in connection with the regular summer session of the school. During the preceding three summers of training which these selected students have spent at the college, concerts were given to conclude the activity of the group, but this yea r additiona 1 concerts will be be given at various times throughout the training period. The first concert scheduled will be given by the A band Saturday June 15 and the second one the following Saturday, both programs to be presented in the college amphitheatre, with class C numbers played June 15, and class B numbers the week following. Dur. ing the middl eof the third and last week of the school, the B band will be presented i a special concert and the A band will also be heard In a complimentary concert for the Summer Session students. These programs will also be given in the new amphitheatre, Mammoth concerts, comprising both bands will be given in Logan Saturday, June 29, and at Ogden and Salt Lake City, Sunday, June 30. These concerts will conclude the summer band camp. According to records from the Registrar's Office, the band totals approximately 275 members They are a selected group, representing fifty high schools in six states, including, Utah, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Wyoming and Illinois. Tryouts for 'places in the band were completed Tuesday, and students assigned their places. Professor McAllister is exceptionally pleased with the band this year. He stated that the general level of the band was higher than other years and some sections gratifyingly so. Will Bickett, director of the Stanford University band, will give special courses on brass instruments to selected members of the band during the weeks from June 17 to June 28. Strawberry Day Announced At Providence Alfred Cammack, Providence president of the Providence Civic club, announced Tuesday that the second annual Strawberry day would be held June 27 at the Joseph A. Smith grove. During the celebration free strawberries will be distributed. Concessions and a flower show at noon will open the festivities, the chairman stated. Russell Crabtree will have charge of the flower show, while Delbert Fuhriman will be in charge of the concessions. Mr. Cammack stated that a public meeting will be held at 1 p. m., with Joseph A. Smith in charge, after which an athletic carnival will be held under the direction cf the Providence Boy Scouts. During the afternoon a band concert will be given by the South Cache high school band. An open air dance at the new tennis courts will close the celebration. Lack of shade and the process of growing new lawn at the Providence public square made it necessary to hold the celebration at the Smith greve, Mr. Cammack said. rri SMITHFIELD rj , i .
