Duchesne Countys' three school building projects are among several such projects in the state affected by the higher building costs, making it impossible to complete the construction jobs as originally planned without addition-- , al funds The 1955 Legislature appropriated $2,130,000 for assisting needy school districts in building badly needed schools. Dr. E. Allen Bateman, state superintendent of public instruction, said at the meeting, Only one of these projects authorized had been the Murray Elemencontracted tary School, which was ready for bid opening last June. The next bid opened was for a junior high school at Roosevelt. It ran so high above money available that we cancelled all bids. W6 have been so sure since that time that we could not do any more jobs on the money available that we for more have not advertised bids' Among Those Eligible The remaining jobs eligible 'for assistance under the supplemental school building program are' two schools in Washington County, one each in Rich, Wayne and Garfield Counties, and three in Duchesne County. Superintendents of the districts met Thursday with Dr Bateman They voted to ask the State Board of Education to ask the State Board of Examiners for $400,000 to make possible the previously authorized construction.
