Miss Gladys Defa was chosen Sweetheart Queen. She . is a member of the Senior - , class. Mr.- and Mrs, Roy Pilling, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Wool-le- y and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Lee'.. - Loretta Jones Is itJanuary Bride - of Tomorrow, has been chosen at the Tabiona High School as a result of a written test ,in home economics given to the senior girls on Dec, 6, according to Miss NaDean Roberts, Home Ec advisor. The winner is Miss Lila Jean Carter, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elwood Carter, Tabiona. She will be presented with a gold pin designed by Tiffany. Miss Carter will also compete with other high school winners for the title of Utahs Betty Crocker Home Maker af Tomorrow and will also be entered in the National competition for Home Maker of Tomorrow. She is the second senior girl to win this award at Tabiona. Betty Crockers Good and Easy Cook Book has also been received at the school as a result of this contest. Mrs. Daphne Zufelt. who suffered a broken leg at Christmas time, is reported convalescing at Heber now. She was in Salt Lake City. We hope the broken bone will soon mend and that this sweet lady will soon feel like herself again. Her daughter, Mrs. William Van Tassel!, has spent a great deal of time with her since her illness. Miss Loretta Jones, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Jones, became the bride of Norman G. Casper, son of Mr. and Mrs Clarence Casper, in a ceremony at the bridegrooms home' in Tabiona Saturday evening. Bishop Burnell Turnbow officiated. The bridal were attendants maid of honor, Linda Jones, bridesmaids, Ila Mae Casper and Gladys Defa, flower girl, Faye Jones, with Darreld Casper standing as best man for his brother. The bride was attired in a ballerina length white formal with fingertip veil and pink accessories. She wore a pink cammellia corsage. Her attendants wore pastel ballerina gowns. Light refreshments were served to approximately fifty guests. The newlyweds will be honored at a wedding dance in the Tabiona High School gym next Saturday, Feb. 4, with everyone invited- to attend and have an enjoyable time. The bride will be feted at a bridal' shofer in the Tabiona ward chapel, Saturday afternoon, Feb, 4. The new groom is a graduate of the Tabiona High School and attended the University of Utah. NEWS OF THE BOYS IN THE SERVICE The parents of Jay L. Buddy Maxwell, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Maxwell, were happy to receive word from him from Japan where he is serving with the U. S. Air Force. He reports he has heoeived a raise in rank and is now a sergeant. The family of Ted D. Nye, who is serving with the U, S. Navy Air Force, was happy to receive a telephone call Wednesday that he is back in the United States after spending six months in Japan. He arrived home late Thurspass, day evening on a but expects to come home on , a leave next Thursday. He is recently recovered from a chipped bone in his elbow, necessitating living his arm in a cast for some time.
