The Roosevelt Chamber of Commerce, Tuesday, directed its executive secretary to write a letter to all political of the county asking them to meet in a body to study taxes and finances. The county commissioners will, be asked to call the meeting, inviting the school board and incorporated city councils and town boards to meet with them, as well as extend an invitation to the general public to attend. . . I sat in on a meeting along with several other citizens of the county about ten days ago and had a lot of questions answered. . . I heartily approve the suggestion that we STUDY OUR FINANCES, and believe a well conducted meeting would be most helpful to all taxpayers. By Rulon Dean Skinner In the background of the activities of the youth of our communities are men called SCOUTMASTERS. These men serve without pay the constant need of our young men for fun, adventure, skill, and inspiration. Two such men who have devoted many, many hours the past year to their troop of boys are Wilmer Murray, scoutmaster of Myton Troop 253; and Frank Adams, assistant scoutmaster of Myton Troop 253. They have formed a team that has assured the boys of Myton the past year a real scouting experience, the kind every boy hopes he can have. In searching back through the files of the Roosevelt Standard during the past year we find these two men in the interest of the boys of Myton have: both completed basic training as Scoutmasters (they participated in six weekly training courses), seen their boys got a long term camping experience by taking the troup to Camp Maple Dell in Payson Canyon last July. Roosevelt District Their boys were present at the June CAMPOREE, as they had been two months previously at the Circus, where on April 3, Troop 253 took second honors. Teaching their boys the real meaning of the good turn, these two men helped their boys as they participated in real communcleaning yards and painting the homes ity service in Myton of those who had been sick or need help. These two men were really proud of their boys last April, when, for the first time since they began working as a team, they had the boys in complete uniform. If you have ever attended a Roosevelt District Court of Honor, you have noticed nearly every time, without exception, the largest representation coming from Myton. This is true whether the Court of Honor is in Myton or Whiterocks. a fast check Their boys have been advancing regularly indicated at least 15 Second Class, seven First Class, and 55 merit badges awarded the boys from Myton Troop 253 during 1955. They won the advancement ribbon at the April Court of Honor. We salute Wilmer Murray and Frank Adams of Myton for the outstanding job they are doing for our boys. We also salute the other fine leaders of boys in the Basin for their great contributions in building the men of tomorrow yours is a work of Almighty God which will be reflected in a stronger nation and a stronger civilization. 2 Scout-Explor- vEv . . .
