The first five minutes of the first quarter really showed a defensive game. Uintah made the first two points after a period of five minutes with no score for either team. It was nip and tuck the rest of the first half score 15 to 14 with the half-tim- e for Uintah. The last half the Utes really were shooting hot, and they went ahead. The absence of Dee Farnsworth was a weak point in the starting line-u- p for Alta-mon- t. Dee has been in bed with a bad case of the flu. Mr. and Mrs. Ross Case, of Vernal, were weekend guests at the Floyd Case home. They attended the Uintah-Altamobasketball game Friday night They also visited Mr. Cases mother, Mrs. Mary A. The two smallest children have been visiting in Provo while their mother and Ida Rae were in Salt Lake City. Ida Rae had her eye operated on in the SL Marks hospital Tuesday, Jan. 18. She got along just fine, and is making a speedy recovery. While in Salt Lake City, Mrs. Rhoades visited with her aunt, Mrs. Elmer Madison. Her mother from Tremonton also came down to be with them. Primary preparation meeting was held Wednesday night at the home of Flora Fabrizio. The lesson was given by Mrs. Delsa Michie and was, as always, very Interesting. Plans were made for the May conference. Light refreshments were served. Mrs. Nettie Defa and DaVona are visiting in Heber for a few days this week with Mr. and Mrs. DeLyle Giles and Mr. and Mrs. Lorin Allred. Mrs. Margaret Giles went to Heber City last Friday to consult with her doctor. She went out with the Oran Currys and returned home with Alan Giles that night. Work meeting was held at Relief Society Tuesday. A beautiful quilt was quilted for Mrs. Nettie Defa. An all day affair was made of it and lunch was served by the officers. Mrs. Lorin Ashcraft and baby son are spending several days with her mother, Mrs. Pearl Turn-bowhile Mr. Ashcraft is in Burley, Idaho, temporarily. DUP Meeting Held The Daughters of the Utah Pioneers held their regular meeting on Thursday, Jan. 20, at the local church house. Mrs. Nettie Defa took charge with Vida Curry giving the lesson. Plans were made for the annual party, to be held in February, when the ladies entertain their husbands to a chicken supper. Hostesses for the occasion were Jean and Flora Fabrizio, who served a delicious luncheon. Mrs. Bob Smith went to Heber with Mr. and Mrs. Weston Thom as recently to get their car, where it had been repaired after their recent wreck. Connie and Marilyn accompanied him as far as Heber where Marilyn had a dental appointment. Leo B. and Frank T. Defa went to Roosevelt on Monday where they had business to attend to. School News Sharon Hamilton, Reporter The Tabby Tigers are making plans to travel to Uintah High for the basketball game this week. Principal Swallow announces that if enough students care to make the trip, the bus will go to VemaL Tabiona- - High is looking forward to enjoying the Duchesne High School exchange assembly on Thursday. The Junior boys of Tabiona High School are participating in a poll being conducted by Senator Wallace F. Bennett, regarding their feelings on Universal Military Training, and other pertinent questions facing the boys of today. Because of the difficulty in securing the kind of Pep Club uniforms planned, we had to give up the idea of new uniforms this year. The girls will maneuver in black skirts and white blouses for the rest of our home games. The staff of The Tigers Roar is working hard this week preparing a school paper for distribution soon.
