Show Things In Duchesne Mrs. Flora Dal Piaz, of Salt Lake, drove to Duchesne, Wed- nesday evening, July 8 to get her children who have been visiting a week with their grandmother, Mrs. Gracia Olsen. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Peterson left for their ranch at Rock Creek on July 3, where tney were going to try their luck at fishing and spending a very cool, quiet, pleasant July 4th. Lynn Barker spent some hours in the Good Old Summer Time weather painting up the young childrens wagons and tricycles with red and white paint to help make the parade for the 4th of July. We think he is a dern good citizen of Duchesne with home town pride. and Mrs. Melvin Freespent the Fourth with Mrs. Abe Harris. Mr. Freestone had just returned from a week with the National Guard. Mr. stone Sunday, June 28th, Mrs. Ben Casey and children, Johnny and Brenda, and Shirlee Harris left by plane from Vernal for Ccdy, Wyoming. .The trip takes only three hours. FRIENDSHIP CLUB The Friendship Club met at the home of Myrtis Buckalew on Wednesday, July 1. A very pleasant evening was spent by the group and a lovely luncheon was served to the following members: Thenelda Marsing, Marguerete Blain, Gladys Wrennetta Granger, Manila Madsen and Ruth Harris. Ode-kir- n, Miss Elise Koyen drove home in a lovely car to spend the 4 th with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Koyen, She is enjoying her work at Tooele. and Mrs. Parry Grant and children, Jimmy and Car Tol, just returned from a lovely trip to Twin Falls, where they visited with Mrs. Arley White. Then they went to Jarbridge, Nevada to celebrate the 4th of July with Mr. and Mrs. George Holfeltz. Mr. Mr. and Mrs. Reed Oldroyd and family, of Portland, Ore., have been the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Smith. Their boys are going back down to Fountain Green for two more weeks with their grandparents, who will put them on a plane when they return home. June 28, Mr. and Mrs. Parry Grant were hosts to Mr. and Mrs. Ben Hadden and Mr. and Mrs. Glen Carry and baby. They served them a lovely day dinner. Sun- Miss Irene Thomas spent an evening with Mrs. Otto John-seMiss Thomas has been in Portland, but reports for duty at the County Hospital July 8. n. Mrs. Roe Lee, of Provo, Mr. Grants sister, spent the night as guests of Mr. and Mrs. Parry Grant. The miniature Primary parade was led by the Boy Scouts carrying the flag, followed by the youngsters portraying ail types of nursery rhyme characters and floats. Outstanding were the Stake Primary float, the Arcadia Primary float of Miss Muffett and the Spider, and many others which were very clever. A large group of decorated tricycles, bicycles and wagons added color and variety to the parade. Officers of the stake MIA were responsible for the program which was presented in the recreation hall of the stake chapel. A variety of square and tap dances plus the usual number of songs, poems and readings entertained the large group that attended. Uncle Sam and the Goddess of Liberty were portrayed by Mr. and Mrs. Oran Curry, of Tabiona. Speakers on the program were A. Hale stake president, and Dean C. Christensen. Each admonished the group assemblled to' live as true Americans. LeVon Thomas caught a Gerban Brown trout and hh brother, Dave Thomas topped this catch by about lb. Both these fish were taken; from Rock Creek. Lloyd Grants catch from the Reservoir tipped Strawberry the scales at 8 lbs. This big fellow was a Native trout. JULY 17 (Friday) The Daughters of the Utah Pioneers are leaving on a trip. Please meet the group at 7 oclock at the post office. The trip will include things of interest in Provo, at the B.Y.U. campus and Geneva Steel. They will go on to Salt Lake City to see the new and many other Marker things EVERY TUESDAY NIGHT The program at the Evening meeting of the L.D.S. church will be given by the Duchesne Camp of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. There is a great need for more parents to attend these meetings so that the proper spirit of the MIA program can be carried on in all the classes.
