(Crowded Out Last Week) School Operetta Presented, First In 10 Years R.R. Terminal DOWNTOWN AT PIRSHINO ll By LaRena Nye Tabiona High School has been preparing for the Uintah Basin baseball league play scheduled to get underway Wednesday, with Uintah playing at Duchesne, and Union playing at Altamont. Tabiona will have the bye this week, but will play Altamont at Tabiona on April 22. The Tabiona Elementary and High School students are enjoying noon lunch in the new lunch room formerly our old shop room. No more spilling our trays on the stairs and messing up the class rooms during the lunch hour. No more lugging all that food up the basement stairs for our cooks. The students, cooks, and teachers, are all really appreciating our new lunch room. The music department under the direction of Mr. W. Grant Peel, is preparing for the Spring Music Festival. Several solos, duets, trios, and quartets are being prepared for presentation at Altamont High during the instrumental music festival. Tab iona High is preparing to be host school for the chorus and vocal numbers of the music festival. And the band is practicing diligently, and anxious to get decked out in our new uniforms scheduled for delivery April 20. The Tabby Times is scheduled for distribution again this week. The Juniors are busily engaged in decorating for the Junior Prom, scheduled for April 17. The theme, in keeping with tradition, will be a deep, dark secret until you arrive at the Prom but it will be the loveliest dance of the year also in keeping with tradition. SQUARE An ambitious undertaking was a successfully accomplished fact Monday, Mar. 30, when the smallest high school in the state, Tabiona High, presented a full dress operetta in the Tabiona High School gymnasium. It took a lot of courage on the part of our music director, W. Grant Peel, Principal C. M. McKell, and students and all others who assisted with the production. In fact, it took not only Mr. Peel's chorus class, but also students who did not take chorus, including seventh and eighth graders to provide enough characters for the cast. But it was wonderful, and praises for All who took part or assisted in any way,- including Mrs. Rella LeFevre, who played the piano accompaniment, can- - JOHN t lOCMMfAO-- M. Principal McKell, Mr. Kent Ellertson and Mr. A. G. Hawkins assisted with the lighting and stage props. A large crowd was present to enjoy the singing and narrative, and several curtain calls were taken by the cast, and Mr. Peal, the director, and Mrs. LeFevre, the accompanist. Grant Peel reports the Tabiona Band Mothers have $956 00 in their new uniform fund at the close of the week of March 28. The proceeds of the operetta will also be added to the fund and another quilt will be given away on a lucky number ticket during the same evening. It is expected the fund will pass the $1,000.00 mark this week. The new suits are expected to be here about April 20, according to an announcement by Principal C. M. McKell, and a special concert will be presented by the band, dressed in their new suits, at a banquet sponsored by the Band Mothers in the new building, prior to the district music festival. Another lovely silk taffeta quilt in the school colors will be given away on a lucky ticket purchased at that time. rcaaia Mrs. Elsie Bird Phones Installed In Arcadia Area UINTAH BASIN RECORD Thursday, April 9, 1953 WTe Jennie Goodrich, Maxine Winkler, Alton Smithson, Mr. and Mrs. James Bird, Mr. and Mrs..Wm.
