The first inspection is made in August before the school runs start, and the second is made in March. The state contest will be held at Provo on Dec. 4 for winners of the district contests. Carl Holly arrived in Roosevelt early this week to assume his duties as field executive for the Uintah Basin, a position recently vacated by Grant Maci, who was transferred to Carbon County area. A native of Santa Monica, California, where he was born, Mr.- Holly has spent most of his life in Salt Lake City, where he attended grammer and high school as well as the University of Utah. He recently graduated from the National Training Scouts of America at New Jersey, and will make hia home in Roosevelt. Mr. Mace lived in Vernal. A veteran of the United States Navy, Mr. Holly is an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-daSaints, and served as a missionary in Germany for the church. Earl Jordan was only 10 years old at the time, but he remembers the trip very well. : The family homesteaded 80 acres, but it was mostly wasteland and they did not majee good on the claim. The father died in August 1922. leaving Earl to work for 50 cents a his sister and day to one brother. ' Earl is the only one of the family left out here He carries the U.
