LOUISVILLE, KY. This week, October S to 11; is Fire Prevention Week. Thes dates have been selected because this is the time of year when fires are most likely to occur. In this area everything is extremely dry due to the lack of rain this fall. This creates a fire hazard, especially in dry fields and in the forest. Hay stacks are especially vulnerable. Last week, the acts of some careless person resulted In the burning of a large hay stack in Bluebell. Fires can start in other areas just as easily. At this time we are starting fires in our home furnaces and stoves Chimneys, stove pipes, and the whole heating system should be carefully checked. It is everyones responsibility to do all they can to prevent fires now and throughout the year.
