Sponsors New Years Dance The gala event for the students of the 7th and 8th grades was the usual Christmas party with all its fun and frolic Friday evening, The group sang carols throughout the town and then gathered at the school gym for dancing and refreshments. The community Christmas tree was bright with colored lights to welcome all of the children of Myton and vicinity last Saturday afternoon. A jolly Santa Claus greeted the crowd of children, presenting gifts to one and all, and no child was missed in the round of gifts contributed by the local merchants and the general public in Myton. The members of the committee in charge of the community celebration are to be commended for their work on the project as It took many hours of work to prepare for the big event. Widows and the sick were all on Santas list, and all were generously remembered by gifts from the bulky sack of old Saint Nick. A new Years dance will be held Monday evening, Jan. 1, in the Tabiona high school gymnasium, sponsored by the AsParent Teacher sociation. President Daphne Vans Tassell says there will be and confetti to add to the fun. Music will be by the Wagstaff orchestra. All proceeds will be used to help improve the library at the noise-maker- Tabiona high school. Times have changed since 1902, even in Tabiona, yet that is the date of some of the reference books used by students in the Tabiona high school. So, the P.T.A. is hoping to be able to help secure new reference books by sponsoring the New Years dance, as well as other projects. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Josie and family, Mr. and Mrs. Arlease Reid, Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Josie, all of Salt Lake City, spent Christmas with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Josie. Dinner guests recently at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Van Tassell were Principal and Mrs. Robert Van Drimmelen, Mrs. Irene Johnson, Kent Ellertson, and Mr. and Mrs. William Van TsssclL William Rhoades, Mr. and Mrs. Fay Lefler, and Miss Rhoades were called to the bedside of Gene Rhoades, who suffered serious complications after an appendectomy in the Provo hospital. He is reported to ,be recovering satisfactorily at this time. Tabiona people regret the accident which cost Rhoades, of Hanna, one of his eyes. We all hope for his early recovery. Mr. and Mrs. Elvin Lewis and two of their daughters left Monday for Ft. Sill, Oklahoma, where they hope to visit their son, William, and his wife. William is stationed there with the U. S. Army. Mr. and Mrs. Von Brown and children, accompanied by Mrs. Browns parents, Mr. and Mrs. Erven Clegg, left Tuesday for a visit with relatives in Southern California. Mr. and Mrs. Weldon Van Tassell, of Kamas, spent Christmas with relatives in Tabiona. Mr. and Mrs. William Van Tassell were host and hostess to forty guests at dinner on Christmas day. Jesse H. LeFevrh attended the funeral services for his brother in Southern Utah, but returned home to spend Christmas with his family. A large crowd enjoyed the Christmas dance sponsored by the Tabiona ward. Other ward activities greatly enjoyed were the operetta Saturday evening sponsored by the Primary. This was followed by a childrens dance and a visit from Santa Claus. Utah School Presents Exceptional Christmas Program The Myton elementary school presented a lovely Christmas cantata Thursday evening in the school auditorium. The cantata represented the birth of Christ, the theme being taken from St. Luke and St. Mathew of the Holy Bible. All of the students of the school took part in the program. Parents and friends filled the auditorium to overflowing and all were loud in their praise of both teachers and students for the excellent program. Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Brummett and daughter, Doris Ann. arrived Saturday from Areata, Calif., to spend the Christmas holidays with Mr. Brummetts mother, Mrs. Wesley Brummett, and family. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Carter and children, of Provo, are visitors at the home of M.r. and Mrs. by the Sunday school, and a special program Sunday evening commemorating the birth of the Saviour and the birth of the Prophet Joseph Smith, was held during Sacrament meeting Sun- day evening. Lorin Allred Mr. and Mrs. Keith Aplanalp and baby son, all. of Salt Lake City, spent Christmas with their mother, Mrs. Irene Johnson. A large crowd enjoyed the program presented by the Tabiona elementary school Thursday evening, under the direction Mrs. Elva of Joe DiStefano, Jones, Mrs. Edna Smith, and Mrs. Dot Ottosen. Mrs. Arietta Williams, Duchesne county elementary supervisor, and Principal Robert Van Drimmelen each gave short talks. Principal and Mrs. Robert Van Drimmelen are spending a few days with friends and relatives in Ogden. Kent Ellertson is visiting his folks in Mona, and Mr. and Mrs. Joel Lillywhite are also visiting at outside points dur ing the holidays.
