Salt Lake and Utah counties seem to be getting most of the attention, probably because they are doing the most hollering. We need some help too. It would be well for the water users to demand the natural flow of the strawberry this year, and also to demand that some of the water being wasted on Indian lands be diverted to better utility. George D. Clyde, irrigation engineer of the A. C. will be here next Wednesday, to make a hasty survey of the situation in Duchesne County. A good turnout of water users, well acquainted with the questionable printed elsewhere in this paper will show Mr. Clyde that we need help, want it, and are willing to cooperate to get it. LETS GET THOSE FISII Included in the water conservation program, we learn there is being contemplated a plan to pump the water out of the Strawberry reservoir. If this is done the lowering of the water will automatically kill all of the large fish there, and the accompanying riling and disturbing of the water will probably get the rest of them. We trust Game Commissioner Cook is keeping his eye on this problem, and will see to it that the sportsmen are allowed to get these fish before such a program is started. Lets not let them die. MR. Dear Sir; In answer to the concluding sentence of the editorial Again We Lose' appearing In the Uintah Basin Record for April 20, we are sending the following statement. Consolidation of the offices of the National Reemployment Service in Duchesne and I intah counties was made necessary by a shortage of funds. While there was little to choose between I)uchsne and Vernal as location for the consolidated office. Vernal was at first decided upon because II. M. Snyder, who had been sleeted as manager of the consolidated office, was already esteablished there. However, Duchesne county residents pointed out that In view of its centra! location the employment needs of both counties could be better served if the office were placed at Roosevelt. Oil Inquiry as to facilities for the service, Roosevelt citizens and civic organizations promptly supplied office space and all other equipment necessary... So, feeling that the choice of Roosevelt would be particularly acceptible to the citizens of Duchesne county and recognizing the v&luo of such a central location, the consolidated office was placed there. No political Influence of any kind was to enter into the decision. In this connection, we wish specifically to direct your nature of the NRS. It is a attention to the branch of the U. S. Employment Service of the Department of Labor, designed to serve all emplojment needs in an efficient, Impartial manner. Every effort has made, locally and nationally, to keep the NRS free from political influence of every kind. I'tah officials of the NRS feel that the residents of both Duchesne and Uintah counties can be served from Roosevelt without discrimination, and tliut the advantages of Roosevelts location are apparent to all. Since any suggestion of political influence is particularly harmful to the efficient operation of the NRS, due to its public character, we would like you to present our statement of this matter to the people of Duchesne. Sincerely, GEO. A. YAGER Utah State Dim-to-r National Reemployment Service er al We feel that this letter substantiates the meaning of the editorial. The statement that some political strings must have been pulled, with which it was ended, was probably poorly written, but the fact remains that Roosevelt did make the best effort, whether it was politics, or just downright hard work, and was rewarded with the office.
