Leo spent about fifteen months in the service, most of the time in the South Pacific Islands. He returns home to his wife and two chiildren. Most everyone from Tabiona enjoyed the 24th of July at Defas Park, where the Hanna Ward sponsored a Pioneer Day celebration. Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Garble and family spent a few days with relatives here last week. Mr. Max Stanley left for Salt Lake Sunday, where he expects .o be employed. Mrs. Westen Bates was called to Tooele, to the bedside of her father, who passed away a few hours after Mrs. Bates arrivel. Several people from Strawberry enjoyed both days at the Rodeo at Altamont. Mr. James G. Ivie received word from his daughter, Mrs. Rock Bair, that they were coming back to make their home here. Mr. Bairs health has not been good for some time. White visiting here recently, he declared, he felt like a new man and he is convinced that the Basin is a very good place to live. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Baum went to Tabiona Sunday afterby their accompanied noon, daughter, Mrs. W. R. Peatross and small sons, of Myton also Clarence Ivie. Mr. Ivie and Mr. Baum were speakers at the Sacrament meeting that evening at the Tabiona L. D. S. Chapel, Mr. and Mrs. Merlon Wardle and family of Duchesne and Mr. and Mrs. Max Thorn of Georgetown, Idaho, were visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Williams Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. A1 Mezener and family went to Vernal last week, where Mrs. Mezener had some dental work done. They also vis ited with relatives before home that evening, Howard Dennis and W. R. A dinner was given Sunday in honor of Alfred Carrell at the home of his sister, Mrs. Percy Potts. Those present were Jas. Several local families enjoyed the 24 th of July at Altamont. All report having a good time. Several of the young folks attended the wedding dance and Emmons last shower at Mt. Tuesday evening in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Kirk Merkley. Shirley Williams made a business trip to Salt Lake this week. He was accompanied by his sister, Zola, and also by Mrs. Geneva Williams and son, Clair, who returned to .their home. My. and Mrs. Fred Carrell, Mrs. Novella Potts and Mrs. Reva Redden were calling at the home of Clarence Woodard of Pleasant Valley one day last week, and Mrs, Rogers George daughter, June, of Mt. Emmons, were calling at the Fred Carrell home Saturday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Junior Potts made a business trip to Salt Lake City last week. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Petersen and children,' Judy and Gayle, of Scipio, spent the last ten days at the home of Mrs. Petersens father, Jame3 Carrell, and other relatives. They returned to their home Saturday. Alfred Carrell, of Eureka, Cali, fornla and a friend, Kelly Bean, enjoyed a Weeks visit at the home of his brothers, James and Mrs. Fred Carrell, and a siste Percy Potts. Alfred made his home here for many years before going to California. Mr. and Mrs. Junior Potts, Mr. and Mrs. Kirk Snyder of Altonah enjoyed a few days fishing on the Yellowstone river. Mr, and Mrs. Victor Mitchell and two small children are visiting at the home of their parents, Mr, and Mrs. Hugo Mitchell. Victor has received his discharge from the army and spent several months in an army hospital In California. Miss Berneice Carrell has accepted employment at the Roosevelt variety store. Mr. and Mrs. Arden Evans and family of Arcadia were calling at the George Evans home last Sunday. Ralph Moon of Jensen was a visitor at the home of Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Murphy Saturday. Pvt. and Mrs. Hershel lorg and Children, of Mt. Sonny McGann, of Denver is with the summer spending' friends in Altonah. Mr. and Mrs. John Saris of Salt Lake City was visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Morris, the past week. Mr. and Mrs Lynn Farnsworth took their daughter, Donna to Duchesne Tuesday to obtain medical care from Dr. Murray. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Snyder, of Colorado, spennt the Meeker, week-en- d with Mr. Snyders parents: Mr. and Mrs. Frank Robinson. Allen Ames, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clinty Ames, was able to be brought home from the L.D.S. during the week. Allen suffered an attack of pneumonia. Harold Ralphs was in Mountain , Home on business Tuesday. Victor Koffard, who is seriously was taken to Duchesne, ill, Roosevelt and then to Salt Lake for medical care. , Mr. and Mrs. Von Timothy and son, of the Big Bononza Mine, arrived Tuesday to spend until Sunday with relatives in Altonah. Lott Powell sustained several broken ribs in a fall. He was taken to Roosevelt for treatment. Ted Burke of Vernal, and Miss Elva Woodward of Roosevelt, were callers at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Beebe last Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Arvel Stone and sons of Provo, are visiting Wtith Mrs. Stones parents: Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Smith. Miss Dora Bird, who is employed in Salt Lake City, spent from Wednesday until Friday with her three small daughters and her parents: Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Anderson. Jack McArthur and two sons, of Garfield, are living in Mrs. Dora Birds house in Altonah, for the present. The Kippel Brothers, of Duchesne, are busy drilling for water in Altonah. They have drilled a well for George Fisher, Sr. and are now drilling for Clinton Bowden. They will also drill for Clarence Beebe and Gilbert Smith. ' , Nathan Jones, republican candidate for county Commisioner, for two years; Bernell Tumbow, of Tabiona and Ferd Beardon, manager of the Wolf Creek stage line, gave interesting talks on the impprovement of State Highway 35, Thursday night in the Ward Hall. Mr. and Mrs. Milton Anderson took their baby to Duchesne for medical care Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Marian Berrett and family moved into their new home in Bluebell Saturday. They purchased the home from Duds Hancock. Mellwood Wall, of Layton was an overnight guest of Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Beebe Friday night. Beebe took Gilbert Lyfrin Farnsworth to Duchesne to visit his daughter Donna, who is ill. Ray Oman, of Boneta, was a visitor at Sunday School last Sunday.
