The program opened at one p. m. at Pioneer Park. The meeting was railed to order by Eugene C. Wixom, president of the organization. Community singing was led by Mrs. Ruth J. Valentine and Patriarch N. J. Valentine offered the invocation. President Wixom delivered the address of welcome, outlined the purposes of the organization, and introduced Hyrum W. Valentine of Salt Lake City. Mr. Valentine introduced members of the family and recounted the arrival of Grandfather in Utah and told of his many accomplishments in the upbuilding of this community. A silent tribute was paid to departed members of the family. Accordian selections were given by Eleanor Rae Valentine, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Holger A. Valentine. The program was followed by the serving of a family dinner. At a business session, J. W. He was baptized into the L. D. S. church, October 7, 1852, and emigrated to Utah that same year, arriving in Salt Lake City, September 30, 1853. A few days later he came to Brigham City with the John E, Forsgren company, the first Mormon emigrants to leave Denmark.
