Speed limits were observed in every community, with 35 m.p.h. the maximum on the open road. The 3511.4 miles were completed on two quarts of oil and 308.6 gallons of gasoline, at a cost of 01.6 cents per mile, or of a cent per ton mile. The entire run was completed without any mechanical failure, repairs, or even a scratched fender. The illustrations show the test truck and features of the new 1936 models. Coupe type cabs with solid steel roof, rear axle, and water jackets, are some of the improvements. In the lower right, Harry Hartz, who drove the tost,' . is seen beside the 10,000-lbblock. Sound Casket Company, a corporation, plaintiff, vs. Stohl Furniture Company, a corporation, defendantH e r v i n Bunderson, Receiver of Stohl Furniture Company, a corpora- Unfortunately, a great many people associate safety first only with the use of automobiles, however the following facts will bring it more clearly to your minds regarding different types of accidental deaths: Suppose you were to read in the morning paper in screaming headlines that 100,000 people in Salt Lake City had been killed in some tremendous accident, or that some great disaster had killed all the inhabitants of Ogden, Brigham City, Logan, Provo, Price, Cedar City, and American Fork. This would be so shocking that it would be the topic of discussion in every home, on every street corner, and at every public meeting held. .Then suppose that the following day you learn that every person in the State of Idaho had been permanently disabled, and that every person in Nevada. Wyoming, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, and California had been temporarily disabled. Surely this would cause much concern and comment, yet the above is the annual loss from accidents in the United States every year. Is the suffering, the cost, or the tragedy any less because this total states and is spread over forty-eig365 days than it would be if it occurred suddenly at our very door as outlined above? If all these disasters had taken place due to carelessness and could have been prevented by proper care, wouldnt you want to do something to prevent the reoccurrence of such a disaster? Accidents rode the highways last year. Motor vehicles killed 36,000 dis- people, permanently injured or j 100,000, and injured another million persons. Accidents occurred in places or work causing 16,01)0 deaths. 60,000 permanent disabilities, and 1,300,000 other injuries. Accidents also invaded the hoims with disastrous result. They killed 3 1,500 people at home, permanently disabled 150,000, and caused injuries to 5,000,000 other men, women and children. Accidents were also present while people were swimming, hunting, fishing, or indulging in other forms ot recreation. The year closed with. 17,500 deaths, 60,000 permanent disabilities, and 2,000,000 other injuries from this source. This toll of accidents cost tha American people, in wage losses and medical care, over three billions oC dollars. GARAGE PIPING FOUND HELPFUL IN WASHING CAR Washing the car in winter is a problem that is usually solved by taking it to the nearest filling station and paying good money for having it done. And in many cases this is done because there is no running water in the garage, or else it haa been shut off for the winter months to prevent freezing. To anyone who really wants to do his own car washing, this lack ot running water is an unnecessary privation. If you have a water lino already running to the garage, all you need do is install a freeze-proo- C hydrant, and there you are. If you have no water line you will doubtless have to wait a while until the ground thaws out before you cam install one. When you do put in a. water line, be sure it is below thw hydrant frost line or the freeze-proo- f may be of little use. ht According to the Public Health Service, better results are obtained from exercise if taken about three hours after meals, and one should preferably not eat again until an hour has elansed after exercising. - tion.
