The vision of more water for thirsty acres in Weber and Box Elder counties came closer to realization Saturday, when the first shovelful of earth marking the beginning of the Pine View dam was turned by Gov. Henry H. Blood. On the spot in Ogden canyon, where the ceremonies took place, a $3,000,-00- 0 reservoir will rise to provide storage for 38,000 acre feet of water a supply which will banish the fear of drouth and ruined crops from hundreds of homes on the rich farms of these two counties. At a program preceding the ceremonies a thousand or more persons heard speakers praise the initiative of those who promoted the project and the generosity of the government in making the money available at terms which the water users can readily meet Others foresaw a day of greater prosperity for Weber and Box Elder counties in fact, for the whole state and rejoiced that the ideal of the Utah - pioneers to make the desert blossom as the rose is being accomplished in full measure. Representative Gathering Public officials and men prominent in business and agriculture joined with citizens from all of northern Utah under the mighty peaks of the Wasatch range to celebrate the auspicious occasion. The program was conducted in a grove about a quarter of a mile south of the dam site. At its conclusion all repaired to the place where the construction will start within a few days and saw the governor break ground and heard the Rev. John Edward Carver of Ogdens First Presbyterian church offer a short prayer. Ora Bundy, president of the Ogden River Water Users association, presided at the program, and talks were given by Governor Blood, Senator William H. King, W. R. McEntire, chairman of the Weber county commission; Mayor Harman W. Peery of Ogden, Mayor Louis Marcus of Salt Lake City; J. H. Andrews, president of the Ogden chamber of commerce; H.
