With a goal of 2200 Scouts of Ogden by December 31st and a definite increase of 25 per cent, the Ogden Gateway Area Council will swing into action during the next three months to earn a streamer given by the President of the United States to every Scout Troop which qualifies for It. Qualifications are that troops must accept the ten year must definitely increase in program, numbers and advancement. The ten year program is a new program for the next ten years in which one out of every four boys in America will be a Scout for at least four years. The Ogden Gateway Area Council has adopted an objective of one out of every two boys in the council to stay in Scouting five years. In order to make the contest more interesting1 the council officials are offering a beautiful silk flag to the district which shows greatest increase in numbers plus greatest increase in advancement, and a wool flag to the district which increases 10 per cent. The announcement went out from the council to the Scout leaders in the following words : We now have 1946 Scouts. If each district wins a wool flag and if each troop wins the award of the President of the United States, we will have 2200 Scouts and will be sixth in number in Region 12. Lets go! Wednesday evening, 35,000 contract bridge players in the United States and Canada engaged in the greatest competition in the histoiy of sport. The players bid and played the same hands in every city. The contest is a contest for pairs in which the bidding and play of sixteen especially selected hands will decide whose bidding and play among the bridge players of the United States and Canada is adjudged the closest to perfect by the worlds leading bridge experts. The hands upon which the prizes wil1 be awarded have been selected by a committee of internationally known experts comprising the following: Ely Culbertson, Josephine Cul bertson, Theodore A. Lightner, Oswald Jacoby, Stuyvesant Wain wright, Harold S. Vanderbilt, Michael Gottlieb, John P. Matheys, Walter Malo-waOConnor de Cordova, Milton C. Work, Walter Beinecke, Comm.
