BRIGHAM CITY, BOX ELDER COUNTY, UTAH, FRIDAY, JULY 29, 1932. JWTti S7. - S S ON WEDNESDAY Canning Co. Manager Was Prominent In Affairs Here. John L. Pierce, 66, manager of the Brigham City Canning company, was found dead Wednesday at 8 a. m. in the west room of the south plant of the local canning company on Eighth West street, with a bullet wound in his left side. Just under the heart, and another in the head. The wounds were evidently said Sheriff John H. Zundel. It is generally believed that this act was prompted by despondency over prolonged ill health and probably financial worries. For a number of years, Mr. Pierce, who was a bachelor, had lived at the home of Mrs. W. K. Morrison on West Forest street. When it was found that his room had been unoccupied Tuesday night, W. B. Morrison went to the cannery to look for Mr. Pierce, and found the body lying on the floor, He called Sheriff John H. Zundel who, with Deputy Fred Sorensen and Dr. W. R. Merrell went to the plant. After examining the body, Dr. Merrell said Mr. Pierce had been dead for several hours. Several years ago, Mr. Pierce suffered a severe attack of rheumatism and since that time has been considerably crippled up and in poor health generally.
