(Special) When the 102 leading boy craftsmen from all parts of the U ni tea States gather in Detroit this month M guests of the Fisher Body Craftsman's Guild, Utah will be repre- sented by, George Hess and- Robert ' Wickham, uf Bar At the 'judging which just ended here, Oeorge and Robert were ad- ludged the most skillful craftsmen among the many Utah boys who con structed miniature Napoleonic coach models in. the $50,000 competition sponsored by- the Guild. The Judges took into consideration every process Involved in going over with minute care every entry coach-buildin- g, submitted in the state. In addition to the Detroit trip, with all their- expenses paid, these two winners will receive 150 each in cash and an opportunity to their models for a national award one of the four unischolarships of four years each versity to be awarded at Detroit following the national judging. The winners of second awards one in ecch of the two age divisions are William Burton, of Salt Lake City, and Deo Madsen, of "Ephraim. In America Enter Atwater Kent Test TEN VOCAL SCHOLARSHIPS AND $25,000 IN CASH PRIZES IS LURE. 4 National fame and the open door to a musical career are beckoning to hundreds of young singers throughout the State of Utah. The offer of ten vocal scholarships, plu3 cash awards totaling $25,000 by the Atwater Kent Foundation, which is conducting Its National Radio Au dition to discover promising young American voices, has challenged the, young Beehive Staters to equal or surpass the record of William Post, Salt Lake City baritone, who last year entered the Audition and was adjudged the second finest male vocalist in all the western states. With singers already applying, Tracy Y. Cannon and Reginald Beales of Salt Lake City have started definitely to appoint the local chairmen who will give them hearings. Mr, director of the McCune Cannon, School of Music and Art, who is serving his third year as Utahs State Chairman of the Audition, has invited Reginald Beales, head of the McCune Schools violin department, to be the manager of the state finals again. Any city having talented young singers, will be authorized to send representatives to the Utah State finals, Mr. Cannon said. Each city will give a hearing to all of Its ambitious singers and send the young man and young woman adjudged best to the state finals, which will be broadcast from Radio Station KSL, Salt Lake City, In October. State winners will go to San Francisco for1 the Far Western District Audition in November as guests of the Atwater Kent Foundation. .Winners of the Far Western District competition, one young man and one young woman, will be taken to New York as guests of the Atwater Kent .Foundation, where they will meet the finest singers from other sections of the nation and compete with them in the national finals, which will be broadcast by an extensive network of radio station during the month of December. Any young man or woman between the ages of 18 and 25 years, inclusive, is eligible to compete.
