Show GREAT FRIEND OF BINGHAM F.D. DIES MONDAY "Cap" Pieicey is dead. Mis great hef.rt that loved the fire service so much and the men and womrn connected con-nected with it stopped meating Mt nday morning. Bingham and especially the firemen fire-men lost dear friend and sup-potter. sup-potter. 1 look back with happy memories to the depression days of the early ( ) J. K. PIERCEY I930's when I first became his friend. He came to Bingham to inaugurate in-augurate an educational program for the fire department. For the first time we found out how to operate our pumper properly and to concentrate on the salvage and protection of property involved in fire. His program moved swiftly until the entire state was visited and he planted the seed of learning everywhere every-where he went. He was truly the "Father" of the educational program pro-gram for firemen in the Stato of Utah. I am proud of the fact that the Bingham Fire Department was one of the first and most active in furthering fur-thering this program and we traveled travel-ed near and far with him to lend support to his efforts. He never forgot the welcome he received in Bingham and in hi own words, ha said: "I have the highest regard for the firemen and the citizens of Bingham Canyon and I always feel welcome when I enter the Canyon." He visited us often and I cannot recall of a celebration that he was not present. More important though he attended the funeral of every one of our firemen and many of our other citizens. Ha was a true friend, be it fair weather or foul. His many accomplishments have been widely publicized but the place he held in the hearts of his Bingham friends needs no fanfare. Godspeed, dear friend! John J. Creedon |
