Larsen of this city, who suffered a fractured skull and was othrwise "bruised and shaken up in an automobile accident Sunday at about 12:30 a. m., is getting along favorably although her condition is still of a serious nature. A heavy rain fell Friday night, washing out a section of the S. P. railroad tracks between Lampo and Promontory station. It rained intermittently during the night without further damage until about 10:30 on Saturday morning when a cloudburst occurred at Promontory station. The water came down in torrents, forming large lakes on either side of the railroad tracks and covering the; lowlands with mud. and debris more than a foot in depth. Bridges along the county road, the old Transcontinental highway to San Francisco, were washed out, and for some time water two feet deep flowed over the highway, it is said. Morel than fifteen cars were stranded and an unidentified Ford car was buried in mud. Eugene C. Wixom of the Wixom Service stations of this city, who was trucking gas into that section, was caught in the' storm and his truck slipped off the highway into the muddy barrow pit. The farm house of George Hansen and the summer home of Floyd Wells were said to be filled with water, which flooded the basements and covered the main floor. The gasoline tanks and pumps at the store of Mrs. F. C. Houghton at Promontory station were washed out of the ground. Flood waters coursed down the hills through the grain fields, most1 of which had been harvested, doing storm The considerable damage. covered an area of about one milei south and two miles north of the Promontory station. Outside of this section little damage was done. P. J. Snodgrass, Mrs. F. C.
