His Horn and Then Reaches For BraKes SALT ,LAKE CITY. "Reach for the brakes instead of the horn, may be a catchy slogan, but the wise motorist uses both, says Mr. R. M. Cross, President of the Utah State Automobile Association. Mr. Cross pointed out that the automobile horn is a most useful car and feature of the present-da-y has contributed much to safety. He continued: Theres something in the criticism of the current cigarette slogan that seems to fit motordom like a glove. We are told to reach for the brakes instead of the horn, by a few wiseacre safety advocates who picture horning as the basis of all evil on street and highway. But there Is something inherently safe and necessary in sounding the horn and accidents have been averted through competent signalling with the horn when stopping would have been fatal. Perhaps it would be a better policy to follow the suggestion In one of the more talerant cigarette slogans by sounding the horn, applying the brakes, and enjoying the safety advantages of both. wide-spre- FOR SALE Electric washer, cheap. (tf) has seen his congregation dwindle from 600 to 34 members and il was decided to sell the church house. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-da- y Saints had a bid for it. When this was found out they tried every way possible to stop the church from getting possession of this church, but it was too late, it was nearly more than the minister could stand; so I believe as Brigham Young said: Every time you kick Mormonism, you kick it upstairs. I only wish more young men and women could have the opportunity of going on a mission. I do not believe there is anything which helps a person more than a mission. We meet so many people of every type. We find out what they believe and as the old saying goes: Two heads are better than one, if the one is a wooden head. I have also had the privilege of going out to the government Indian school, which is located at Tomah, and helping put over the Book of Mormon lecture which concolored slides of ity.i sists of seventy-fiv- e ancient ruins of a people who once 111 inhabited this continent, proving the authenticity of the Book of Mormon. ft And, about a month and a half later I went out and gave them a talk. Of course, we are not allowed to preach any particular doctrine of any church. It certainly was an inspiring sight to see all those 385 Indian children from the ages of 6 to 18 years, gather to be shown some of the ruins of the buildings their forefathers built. We were invited to come back again, and I hope we shall be able to do so. These are just a few of the many experiences I have had in my miss: sionary labors thus far. I send my best wishes Ito all, and I want to thank you again for the Box Elder News. May the Lord bless you all. Your brother in the gospel, KENNETH J.
