All commissioners present Hans N. Knudson, road supervisor of the Portage district, was present with request that certain portions of the road in his district be graveled. Matter referred to budget. LeGrende Hunsaker and U. Nago were present in the interest of road improvements in Honeyville district Upon motion duly seconded and carried, W. H. Griffiths was appointed county surveyor of Box Elder county to fill the unexplred term of Vance H. Tlngey who provausly resigned the position. L. E. Nelson, juvenile judge of the First Judicial District, was present with reference to a survey heretofore made of Juvenile Court conditions and practices in tfo State of Utah, such survey having heretofore been authorized and conducted under the authority and direction of the Juvenile Court Commission. The request that Box Elder county bear a portion of the expense of such a survey was denied. Upon motion duly seconded and carried, N. T. Spangler and Joseph H. Petersen were appointed bee inspectors for this county. Miscellaneous business considered and disposed of. Main New Drug Store to Open On Saturday (From Box Elder News, March 18, 1919.) The Peoples Drug Store will open its doors for business on Saturday of this week. The new drug emporium is located in ,the Jones building on South Main street, that part of the building having been remodeled and renovated and made comfortable for Its new tenant. The fixtures, all new, are now in place and a force of clerks is at work unpacking and placing the goods upon the shelves in order to be spick and span for the grand opening , on Saturday. In finishing the store, the Merrell Lumber company has done some beautiful work on a wall cabined that extends .along the north side of the store. The cabinet is equipped with drawers and cases along the bottom and shelves along the upper half. It is finished in natural fir which displays the grain of the wood and makes a beautiful fixture. The balance of the furniture was made by an outside firm. A soda . fountain has been installed just Inside the door in the front part of the store, but because of a delay in the arrival of some of the fixtures, the fountain will not be in operation on Saturday. The prescription counter is located across the room in the west end and Is fully equipped with modern conveniences. The firm will carry a complete line of drugs and supplies, candy, etc., and may install later a literature table. The principal owners and officers of the new store are L. R. Wight, Noble M. Fishburn, P. Russell Wight, A. M. Nielsen, and F. W. Fishburn, president. Mr. L. R. Peoples Drug Company o t g this city is ten years old today. The write-u-p at the left gives full particulars concerning the opening of this store, which has seen a phenomenal growth cand which. Is now numbered among the leading and progressive institutions of the city. Mr. L, R. Wight, one of the funders and manager of the Peoples Drug store, died July 24, 1927. His faithful wife, Mrs. Marie Wight, who has been with the business since its beginning, took hold of the reins and continued on, with the able assistance of Ray Grant, who had been employed as a clerk at the store since 1920, with the exception of one year spent at Logan and one year in California. On August 7, 1927, Mr. Grant contracted to buy the entire business. That contract is still in effect and will be until the purchase is completed. Upon signing this contract, Mr. Grant became manager of the Peoples Drug store. During his administration the store has seen rapid progress and growth. The latter part of June, Hast year, an electrically operated fountain was installed, which is modern and sanitary. A magazine and newspaper section has also been established, yet among the 'eight departments mentioned In this ad, none receive more careful attention than the prescription department, which is under the direct supervision of Mr Grant, who is a registered pharmacist Credit is also due Mrs. Wight for the progress of this establishment, as she has teen loyal and efficient in the splendid service she has given since its beginning. Mrs. Amelia Burt spent Tuesday visiting with her little son, who Is In a hospital in Salt Lake City. Austin and Henry Johnson were business visitors in Salt Lake City last Tuesday.
