Six million dollars worth of business was done last year by the Utah Poultry Producers' association, an increase of 60 per cent over 1926v New York City alone took $2,358,000 worth of eggs from Utah. The business represented the shipping of 1340 carloads of eggs eggs, to be exact.. Thirty-fiv- e carloads of turkeys were shipped out of the state and brought a return of exactly $314,000. The encouraging thing is that the poultry business could be more than doubled and could make a good living for a great miany more families than are now engaged in it. The producers association aims to Increase its business to $10,000,000 next year and looks forward to the day when its total trade will amount to $20,000,000. Poultry raising in Utah is a very! thriving business that ought to appeal to a man who has a small amount' of caplal to invest and wants to get into an independent business. Its a money-makfor the fellow who will go about it scientifically. Utah can support twice as many people as arel now making their living from the poultry business. B, Kearl, of West Main street, had a very narrow escape from losing his right eye in an accident Tuesday morning. Little Joe has a baby sister, and sister tried to get hold of a butcher knife while Mrs. Kearl was out of the room for a minute. Joe, although only little more than a baby himself, realized the danger of the big knife to the little girl, and he grabbed the knife to take it away from her. In the 'scuffle that ensued Joe jerked the knife and the point of it struck him in the eye. The knife point made a gash thru the eyelid and just missed the eyeball by a hairs breadth. Little Joe was taken to a doctor who found that with proper care the wound was not serious. But Joe will have to wear his eye eclipsed with bandages for a few days. (Mrs. Kearl was formerly Miss Eulalia Hansen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph F. Hansen of this city and Joe .is their grand son. Ed.) KELTONNEWS JUNIOR BOOKS.
