Flag raising and lowering were regular ceremonies of morning and night Meal time was a feature in itself. The entire cooking and serving was done by the scouts. They were organized into four troops, each troop having a camp fire. For each day, one scout master and two scouts from each troop prepared the meals. Certain scouts were detailed to haul in fire wood, and others as punishment, for army discipline was strictly enforced, scoured kettles and washed dishes. During the day the boys enjoyed themselves with such sports as indoor baseball, , horseshoe throwing, swimming, fishing, and berry hunting. Target ranges were set up and daily practices were made In target shooting. Some of the scouts made exceptional records with the rifle. Setting up exercises also entered into the days program.
