NUMBER P A V HUi GEORGE 0.HYE NEW I s & Reed wore the successful the installation of five street paving in Brigham be r ward was made Tuesday and at a meeting of the Mayor member which every at unci! unan-Th- e sent and the voting was was $136, bid of this firm for the installation of ncrete base with a two inch V Prof. George O. Nye of Garland, has been elected supervisor of music for the Box Elder county bchool district to succeed O. A. Whitaker, who recently resigned to follow the vocation of salesman Prof. Nye is not a stranger to the boys and girls of this county as he has made his home in Garland for a number of years 'and has been engaged in the music teaching profession. He has had charge of the Bear River Stake tabernacle choir which ho has developed to a very high point of musical efficiency and has done a lot of work in the way of presenting light operas, cantatas, choruses and entertainments. He has had a long experience as a student and as a teacher and possesses a personality that makes him a splendid addition to the teaching force of the county school district. It is presumed that Professor Nye and family will remove to Brigham City which will be a distinct loss to Garland but a welcome addition to this community. L Because of the high wages paid in all branches of industry, a standard that the board of education has not been able to met, Superintendent Skidmore has had some real job in securing the necessary teachers for the the schools of Box Elder county. However, the assignment has finally been completed and unless more teachers decide to cancel their contract before the opening of school, the line-uwill be as given below. In not a few cases, teachers have appeared before board in person and by letter, asking to be released from heir contract because the individual has received a bigger offer of wages in some other line of work and in every such instance where the request could be granted, the resignation of the teacher has been accepted for the reason that it has not been thought wise to compel a teacher to honor his contract when his heart, was not in the work. In some few cases it has been impossible, however, to grant a release because the teacher waited so long before filing his resignation. The teaching force as at present con stituted, contains a number of new names and faces and following is the way Supt. Skidmore has made the assignment: Riverside. Merritt L.
