But stated that al! members of the various boards were not of the same opinion and he believed that unless more of the stakes took up the question, that it would hi some time before the merger would be accomplished. After more discussion a vote was taken, showing 625 for and 2 against the proposition. Pres. Grant then addressed the meet ing along the line of church publications and what they have done for the work at home and abroad, stating that he was opposed to making the publications profit getters; scatter them more widely over the earth if theres a surplus, then make the subscription lower. He also complimented the stijKe upon the splendid condition fjfistiug, statin that Box Elder w.is in tiie very front ranks of the chufCti. Referring to the subject of tithing, quoted Daniel H. Wells who said 1 cant afford to dicker with the Lord," and we none of us could. The closing song was "Our God We Raise to Thee, and William Wrigh-topronounced the benediction. n . SATURDAY AFTERNOON. At the afternoon session, which was a general meeting of the conference, there were 505 persons in attendance. Ye Simple The opening song was Souls Who Stray, prayer being offered by Elder Iielgar Packer. The next number was Let Judah Rejoice, etc., and Elder W. A. Facer of Willard, recently returned from a mission to the Samoan Islands was called upon to speak, lie gave an interesting account of his labors among that people and reported the work as progressing. Elder C. C. Johnson of Bear IUver City was the next speaker. He recently returned from a mission to Scandinavia where he had enjoyed his labors and reported the work in a prosperous condition. Elder Johnson also spoke of the principles of the gospel and their saving effect. Elder Lester L. Hansen, another recently returned missionary who has been laboring in the Swedish mission, delivered a strong talk on the saving principles of the gospel, and told of the effect of a mission on the life of every young man who is called into the field. He bore a powerful testimony to the truthfulness of the gospel. Elder Ileber J. Grant was the concluding speaker, and told of the pleasure it always gives him to listen to the reports of returned Elders and felt of the spirit they possess. He expressed the wonderment that during the past 80 years when the church has sent out not less than 700 missionaries every year, not one who has done his duty while away has returned with the report that he has found the gospel to b.e false and has found the truth elsewhere. On the other hand tens of thousands of people have heard and accepted the gospel, forsaking the creeds which they have grown up in and declaring that Mormonism is the only true church upon the face of the earth. He then referred to the inconsistences in the Christian reli- gions of the day, relating an incident of the experience of a minister to Japan, who was growing Lit and rich, doing nothing. Elder Grant referred to the integrity of the church leaders from the Prophet Joseph Smith down, and marveled that they could even be intimated to be a fraud. He bore his testimony to their worth and to the truthfulness of the gospel. The choir and congregation sang the hymn Guide Us O, Thou Great Jehovah, and the benediction was pronounced by Elder R. L. Fishburn, Sr. SUNDAY MORNING. As usual on Sunday morning the tabernacle was well filled with rosy faced children, their teachers and parents, to the number of over 1300. The first hour of the session was taken up by the Sunday Schools in the rendition of a prepared program, which was very acceptable. The opening song was "Sunshine in my Soul.
