Baby Carriages, Go-Car- ts, LIGHTNING s Etherington, a ranqber living twenty miles north of Terrace, shot a Chinese sheepherder last Saturday afternoon In a q Barrel over a dog. The dog had wandered away from Etherington place and learning that the Chinaman had him at hts sheep camp a few miles distant, Etherington went to investigate taking his rifle with him. lie found the Jog all right but be was sheared like a sheep. This aroused his anger and a quarrel ensued. It is stated the Chinaman shot first at Etherington from his sheep wagon. The latter then shot twice Into the wagon, the second shot striking the Chinaman in the arm. Etherington then returned home and the Chinaman was taken to the hospital in Ogden where his arm was amputated Sunday. Sheriff Josephson went out to Terrace Saturday and arrested Etherington who is now confined in the county jail. Industry- THE PRESIDENT. Mammoth preparations are being made throughout the state to make the street parade in Salt Lake on the occasion of President Roosevelts visit the greatest affair ever seen in Utah. It is expected that 1000 horsemen in rough-ridecostumes will take part in the parade. Box Elder county has been asked to furnish at least 50 of these riders, and Elias Jensen, Lorenzo N. Stohl, John Y, Rich, J. D. Call and Sheriff Josephson have been appointed a local committee for Box Elder county for this rs purpose. The other is known as Tom Tucker owned by Rich and Pitt. It will he a quarter mile dash for a $1000 purse. The following week Goldie is to go against another Rich and Pitt horse Argot, which will be a t mile dash for a purse of $500, though the first horse to the quarter pole takes a part ef the stakes. The Rich and Pitt horses are being trained at their ranch near Fielding. Newell Whitney ha charge of the Hunsaker animal at Iloneyville. The Bar Investigation- - Concerning the charges, brought against him, an account of which appears in another part of this issue, Mr. Jones states that he was placed at a great disadvantage by the unfair methods of the committee appointed and by the arbitrary action of the bar association which would not permit him to have an attorney to represent him at the meeting therein described. Grout, H. L. Griffin and P. L. Grirtin of Ogden filed twenty four location notices of placer claims last week In the county recorders office. The land comprises six sections In township 9, range 4 west. Monday J. M. Zinn and others from Ogden filed thirty six other location notices comprising nine sections in township 9, ranges 7 and 8 west. . Hoodlums at the Springs- Three young men from Ogden rode up to the Hot Spriogs last Sunday afternoon and created quite a disturbance, using profane language and making themselves generally disagreeable. Henry Williams, who was at the springs with his family, remonstrated with the young men, when they followed him into the hotel and attacked him with chairs.
