Neither w o it d Democrats presum to walk Into a Republican convention to participate in nominating a Republican ticket. Under the old system each political party selected Its strongest candidates to oppose the opposition party candidates. The two tickets then printed on the official ballot and the electors at Hie regular November election voted for whom they pleased, a straight party ticket or a scratched ticket. At the recent primary election In Idaho, Republicans are accused of voting for candidates on the Democratic ticket In an effort to nominate the "weak candidates on that ticket, which resulted hi the defeat of Senator Pope. It is reported, and the nomination of Congressmen DeWorth Clark for Ukited States Senator on the Democratic ticket. Friends of Senator Pdpe are now trying to persuade the senator to run on a:i Independent ticket. Can that same thing happen In ' Utah? Not unless the voter completely abandons- his party ticket. A Republican can, however, vote the Democratic ticket and a Democrat can vote the Republican ticket, but one cannot vote for candidates on both tickets at the primary election. As each voter appears at the poles he (or she) will announce the 'name. If duly registered the voter will be handed a primary ballot one large sheet of paper .containing all the tickets to bo voted for. Each ticket is divided toy perforation. As the voter enters the secret booth he will tear Athene ballots apart and vote the one of his choice. After that ticket has been voted by placing cross at the right of each name (there Is no circle at the top), he will fold it as usual.
