It Is every womans responsibility to ask for labels that are fully Informative, and to patronize those manufacturers who so label their goods. Clothes, to stand frequent washing, should be labeled fast to both sun and laundering. If they are cotton, they should be and guaranteed not to inch per shrink more than yard. The crisp finishes of such materials as organdie, dotted Swiss or batiste, should be guaranteed to be ar pre-shru- one-four- permanent. If these vegetables are left in warm place after they are picked th sugar rapidly changes to starch. The direct and meritorious object is to get the people of America to consume the extra quantity of milk which cows produce at this season of the year. But the Indirect object, which is the better health of the citizen, is also meritorious, so why should not the women do all they can to help? There is much to be said in favor of drinking more milk and little to be said against it. Physicians agree that the majority of us would be better off physically and probably mentally if we drank more milk. The coneumption of milk per 100 persons Is increasing in the United States. Last year It was .83 pints per that day, compared to about one-liaamount in England and still less in France and Germany, where, however, much larger proportions of the milk produced go into the manufacture of cheese. But Switzerland, also fond o f cheese, consumes nearly a quart of milk per 100 persons every day and Sweden pints. The Swiss and Swedes are notoriously healthy. ELECTRIC. STOVES Electric stove economics include using of the oven to capacity whenever it is UHed at all, rather than bakjng just one dish at a time. Also, all units should be switched off before the end of the cooking process, and kettles and pans with flat bottoms and straight sides which fit the surface units should be used- 1938. This should be either whitish or yellowish. Peaches with a green background color have been picked at too immature a stage. ;id 15th, facturers descriptions; however, th consumer has the right to know whafc the labels mean. Industrial accidents are proof that humans cant break the law of gravity without being punished. Falls, says the National Safety Council, in its 1938 edition of Accident Facs, caused 20 per cent of all accident cases in 1937 which involved industrial employees. Victims of these fans received 25 per cent of the compensation paid for all industrial accidents Only one other industrial operation, that of handling different objects, (tools, materials, etc.) causes more accident cases. But victims of this type of mishap, the Council said, receive only 14 per cent of total compensation, for the reason that injuries in the handling objects classification usually are less serious than fall injuries.
