Show STEVE SMILANICH NAMED INTERMOUNTAIN SPORTS EDITOR BY U. P. INT'L San Francisco Steve Smilanich of the United Press International bureau staff at Salt Lake City has been appointed Intermountain Sports Editor, it was announced today to-day by Hal Wood, Pacific Division sports editor. Smilanich, 33, will work under the direction of Keith Wallentifte, manager of the Salt Lake bureau. Smilanich's byline has become vell known to sports fans of the intermountain area since he joined UP1 in 1955. His experience includes sports reporting for the Deseret News in Salt Lake City and for the former Salt Lake Telegram. A graduate of the University of Utah, Smilanich served two years in the army. He is the son of Mrs. Milka Smilanich of Highland Boy and resides in Holladay with his wife, the former Colleen Crane, and two sons, Michael and Robert. Smilanich served as journalism and English instructor at Boise High School before joining UPI. He is a graduate of Bingham High School. |
