Show ' t 1 ME V V0LUHE XXV Two Days Celebration For July 4th 5th i v The Firemen of Spanish Fork have planned a two day Celebration and Home Coming for July 4th and 6th. the program as outlined will be as follows :The morning of July 4th Is to be spent In visiting old friends, at I p, n. a Band Concert will be held at the City Park, at 8 oclock a Patriotic program will be given at the City Pavilion by Post 68 of the American Legion. Monday July 6tb. National Salute at day break, hosting of flags and salute to the Flag at sunrise; band concert at City Park at 8:30 a. m., at 9:30 a parade will start at the City Park, after which a program will be given at the City Pavilion at 10 a. m., a band at the City Park at 1:30, at 3:30 there will be a children's dance and other sports at the City Park, at 8:30 a ball game, horse races and other 'sports at the Ball Park. At 7:30 in the evening the Firemen will give an exhibition at the auditorium, The two days celebration will close with a grand ball at the auditorium. An invltlon Is extended to all those who have lived in Spanish Fork to Join with us In making this celebration one long to be remembered. We also Invite the people of our neighboring towns to celebrate with us In honoring the men who brought forth our gjorlous Independence and those who have preserved the same. ' At an American Legion meeting, held at the Legion rooms Jane 9, It was decided to have an Americanisation meeting and program to be held at' the City Pavilion Sunday, July 4, at 8 oclock. Bird Allen. Counselor Roscoe C. Hanks was In charge. The choir sang "Sometime Well Understand, ' Ezra Edman offered 'the opening prayer, the Salem mate quartett sang, What Voice Salutes the Startled Ear. The speakers were President Henry A. Gardner of the Palmyra 8take, President Maycock of Kolob Stake, Patriarch Huntington of Kolob Stake, and Francis A. Hanks of the services Miss and Miss Wheeler sang a duet; Alma Christensen sang a solo, "Face to Face, the choir sang, "Oh My Father, the closing song was a number by the male quartett, "Nearer MyGod to Thee," the benediction was pronounced by Bishop Loveless of Payson. Mrs DeEsta died at her home in Salem .Sunday June 6th, of heart disease from which she has been suffering for the past 3 years. She was born in Springville June 8tli, 1882, she was the daughter of Joseph H. and Nancy Weight. She married W. Bird Allen about 19 years ago, to them have been born 7 children, 6 of whom survive, Jesse, Blain, Mrs. Verda Davis, Reuama, Lueda and Neva Joy all of Salem, and also her mother, Mrs. Nancy j Weight, , of Springville; 4 brothers and 4 sisters, Lorenzo and Henry Weight of Springville; Jesse J. Weight, Salt 'Lake; Kenneth Weight of Provo, Mrs. Elsie Llwellyn, Rupert, Idaho;, Bertha Rothwell, Arco, Idaho; Nellie Mapleton and Mae Johnson of Eureka. She also leaves a host of friends. The meeting house was filled to overflowing, their were many floral tributes. Interment was In the Evegreen cemetery - In Springville. Funeral services for Wyne Jarvis was held Wednesday afternoon at the ThiTd ward chapel. Bishop Ralph Morgan in charge. The speakers were Thomas Halverson of Palmyra, James Anderson, the youth's teacher at the Junior high school, Bishop Marlnus Larson and Bishop Morgan who made the closing remarks. Music was by the ward choir which sang "Sometime Well Understand, and "BeautT-fu- l Isle of Somewhere. Mrs. Annie dorbell sang 'a solo and Miss June Llvingstohe, a classmate of Wayne's sang a solo. The service was1 attended by an exceptionally large concourse of relatives and friends, many coming from adjacent towns. Twelve young girl cousins were the flower girls, the floral offerings were profuse, Interment was In the Spanish Fork cemetery where the grave was dedicated, by N. P. Larson. Wyne Jarvis, 14, died Monday morning between 7 and 8 o'clock at the Hughes Memorial hospital, from an injury suffered Sunday afternoon when he fell or was thrown .from a horse in, Payson Canyon. The youth had accompanied, his grandfather, Frank Barney, and his unclqs Wilbur and Ray Barney, to the canyon. The party vtas returning and, when a few miles on the homeward journey, discovered that an ax had been left at the camping place. The boy, was sent on horseback to bring back the missing tooL The youth did not return as promptly as had been expected, and an Investigation was made. The boy was found lying unconscious in the road, the horse being a short distance away. Commencing at 2 o'clock a program of vocal and Instrumental music, whistling solos, ballet dadclng, etc. was given. . Herbert .Williams gave the address of welcome' and Mrs. Herbert E. Williams delighted the assembly with a number ot whistling solos. The history ot James Pace was given by his daughter, Mrs. Margaret Bixle Blackburn ot Salt Laie. In connection with this history it Is interesting to note that our neighboring town of Payson was named for this sturdy pioneer. William Pace was one of those who settled on the Spanish Fork river bottom and lived there until that settlement was abandoned because of the rndiana. Miss Myrtle Blackburn of Salt Lake bad charge of the program, at the close of which a reorganization of the family was effected with the following officers for the ensuing year: Dr. Garr Pace, Murray, president; John E. The camp will open Monday June 28, on Timpanogas Creek, South of Aspen Grove, and will open for four or five weeks. The Slogan adopted by the council is: "Every troop in camp at least one week." Timpanogas Camp has been purchase by the council from the North Fork Investment Company, it lb a beautiful tract of land lying on both sides of sparkling Timpanogas Creek, it has on it several excellent old water springs, some of the finest points ot timpanogas; aspens, oaks, and various other varieties ot trees and shrubs. The marriage of Miss Leah McKell of this city to' Dr. Frank Wheelwright prominent young 'dentist of Payson, was solemnized Friday In the Salt Lake Temple. Miss McKell is the youngest daughter of William M;Kell prominent business man ot this city. U. She Is a graduate of the B.-Provo and has been a popular teacher In the Utah County schools for several years. Miss McKell filled a two years mission for the L. D. S. Chufcty in the Western States, being most of her time at Denver. Because of the recent death of the brides mother no receptions were given, the wedding was very quiet. The young couple will spend a short honeymoon in the North west and Pacific' coast points of interest after which they will return to Payson and be at home to their friends at their new residence on Utah Avenue Payson.
