He was born in Sawnsea, South Wales, Dec. his 81st year. 20th, 1841, and was-iWith his , parents he emigrated to Ulih in '1856 after spending a few months in Salt Lake City, the family came- to this qity, which has always been their home. Mr. Jones was for nr&n? years prominent in both the civic "and religious work of the community. 'In October, 1867 he married Minnie Opthelia Dahle, who preceded him in death just six weeks ago." Mr. Jones served for two terms as Mayor of Spanish Fork, having been for some time previously a member of the city council. He served two terms as county selectman, for Utah County before statehood. He served throughout the Black Hawk War, and was in one of the worst lights, the on,e at Gravelly Ford. He was for more than forty years superintendent of the Spanish Fork Cooperative Institution, leaving the business a few years ago because of failing health. He is survived by two sons, John L. Jones and William A. Jones of Spanish Fork; two daughters, Mrs. Thomas O. Creer and Mrs..
