Show and LaMar, left Friday, July 21 for a short vacation with her mother in Mayfield, Sanpete county. Tuesday they motored on to Bryce Canyon and the Big Rock Candy Mountain. They returned home Wednesday afternoon. David Palmer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Laurence Palmer, serving with the U. S, Navy in the Aleutian Islands, Is-lands, has received an LDS miscion call to serve a part time mission in the islands. Mrs. Leola Dimond and Mrs. Vclois Chipman are in Corvallis, Ore., attending the national school secretaries national convention. Mr. and Mrs. LaVar Mabey and sons, LaMar and Dwayne, were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Webb Monday, July 24th. A weiner roast was enjoyed. Police were called to investigate an accident Monday on the Bingham Bing-ham highway involving a car backing back-ing out of a driveway which ran into an eastbound car. There were no injuries. Engagement Told Announcement . was made this week by Mr. and Mrs. Junius H. Burton of the engagement of their daughter, Ramona Burton, to Leon Higgins, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Har-old L. Higgins of Bennion. The young couple have not yet set a wedding date. WEST JORDAN Billie Jean Champlin, AM 5-0116 Marlene Webb Mr. and Mrs. William W. Champlin Champ-lin along with Mrs. Champlin's parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Hathaway Hatha-way and her brother and sister, Michael and Louise Hathaway, took a trip over the 24th week end to Jackson, Wyo. They visited Richard Hathaway, Mrs. Champlin's brother who is working on the Mission 66 project working at Colter Bay. Mr. Hathaway is on the survey team for thu summer. Mrs. Merle Croom was dinner guest and spent the evening visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Royce Holyoak Thursday, July 20. Mr. and Mrs. Mark K. Carroll and family Charlotte, Sharon, Linda, Lin-da, Joann, Mark and Thelma have returned hom from a pleasant vacation va-cation in California. The family left July 12 and journeyed to California by car. The first stop made was at San Bernardino where they enjoyed sightseeing. Then they went on to Carden Grove near Los Angeles v.-here they visited friends, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Alan. On Saturday the Carrolls visited Santa Claus Village, Sunday they attended church and then visited the famous Knotts Berry Ber-ry Farm. On Monday they visited Disneyland where they rode the many interesting and fun rides. Tuesday Marineland was the famous fam-ous spot visited for the day along with Forest Lawn Cemetery where they saw the huge painting of the crucifixion. All day Wednesday was spent in visiting Capistrano the famous city of song and story. On Thursday the Carrolls spent the day touring the San Diego Zoo, taking a guided tour on a bus through the huge zoo. That evening they relaxed relax-ed on the beach. The Carroll family also visited the Los Angeles Temple where they viewed movies of the temple, and the farmers ma rket. The Carrolls returned home Sunday, July 23 exhausted but very pleased with their trip. Club Camp was held in the Spruces Spruc-es last week. West Jordan clubs were represented very well. Club campers participated in many different dif-ferent activities, such as crafts, where they made key chains or coin purses, recreation, Softball, volleyball, squaw wrestling, log sawing, entertainment, skits, and talent contests. The day started at 7:30 when taps awoke the campers and ended at 10:30 with taps telling tell-ing the campers it was time to be in bed. Climax of the three days came on Friday night when the candle lighting service was held. It was a very impressing sight when each member lit a candle and gave the 4-H Club motto. Then the campers camp-ers sang "Let Their Be Peace." Officers Of-ficers from the West Jordan area were Byron Schmidt, Mayor, and Roger Johnson, Chief of Police. Mr. and Mrs. Royce Nelson and family, Nancy, Janet, and Robin, along vith Billie Jean Champlin visited Mr. and Mrs. Harold Parker of Cedar Fort. While in Cedar Fort they watchec the youngsters parade. par-ade. They also enjoyed such entertainment enter-tainment as a social, a girls Softball game (which Cedar Fort won 21-22), 21-22), a rodeo, and dance. Birthdays celebrated (his month are, Janet Nelson who turned 12 on July 3rd. July 12th was Ilene Went-worth's Went-worth's birthday. Both Mr. and Mrs Golden Groom celebrated their birthdays this month. Mrs. Groom's birthday was on the 20th and Mr. Groom's was on the 14th. Another birthday coming up is Charlotte Carroll who will be 18. Congratulations. Congratu-lations. House guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. S. J. Granquist over the Pioneer Day week end were Mrs. Viola Henry and her daughter, Mrs Mary Adams from Redding, Calif. Mr .and Mrs. William Rager and family and Mr. and Mrs. Larry Wells and family spent the Pioneer Day week end at Smith-Moore House at top of Weber Canyon. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Barben and family spent last Friday and Saturday Satur-day at Bear Lake. Wilford Webb is visiting with his daughter, Joyce Elder, in Spring-ville Spring-ville this week.
