MAUD STRAWBERRY PROJECT j Utah, Strawberry Project (53 kt tent completed). -- At Strawberry Tunnel, 417 linear feet of tunnel were excavated at the wcit heading:, and 287 ' linear feet at the east headinfc-tot- al, 604 linear feet. The material encountered was hard sandstone and ahale at the went heading, and a combination of hard and toft aandstone at the vat heading. Heavy aectiona of ground were encountered at both heading and rt ia necessary to keep the timbering op clone to the face. A great deal of water waa encountered in the face of the weat heading, but the total flow from the heading remained about the tame aa during last month. Consider-abl- e water was encountered at the east heading, but moist of it came from the bottom and did not delay the work appreciably. Six hundred and two linear feet of sides and arch lining and 832 linear feet of bottom were placed during the month at the west heading. The tunnel, aa a whole, was 05 per cent completed at the close of the month. At Straw beTy Dum the work of filling the corewall trench with concrete and finishing the paving on the upstream slope to the elevation of the earihfill was completed early in the month and all work on this feature was discontln-ue- d for the winter.
