A prominent event of th week was the musical garden party given by Miriam chapter No. 14, Order of the Eastern Star, Tuesday evening In the Masonic club rooms, in celebration or ths fifth anniversary of the chapter. The hall was converted into s garden, with large fir treee hung with brilliantly colored lanterns placed at either end and small trees, decorated with Japanese cherry blossoms, effectively arranged about the room. Hanging from the celling were Chinese and Japanese lanterns, A large plot of flowers, in the shape of a star, symbolic of Miriam chapter, was In the center of the hall. Points of the star were represented by Miss Harriet Kanxler, Mrs. William Rockefeller, Mrs. Warner Arthur, Mrs Jack Littlefield and Mrs. Claude Armstrong. Small tables were arranged about the hall, at one end -of which was one long table, from which- refreshments were served by the young women representing the points of the star, - The address of welcome was 8. Mrs. Ada Browning acted as marshal A feature of the evening was the presentation of a beautiful basket of flowers by Mrs. Angus Kennedy, worthy matron, to the following past matrons: Mrs. J. H.
