SUrsr (la Leedea) . s 111 Jlt.M ,.. .Mtte .ft," UM Salmon City Men Organize Company to Develop Sunbeam Copper Claims. Development of the many promising showings along ths extensive vain system upon which are located the Harn and the Tormey mony, the mines In the Blackbird district In Lemhi county, Idaho, is planned by Salmon City men, according to A. Boulals, who is in Salt Lake for a few day a For this purpose the Lemhi Development and Mining company has been organised, with John DeBarre, president; A. Boulals. vice president and general manager; H. J. The Burleigh, eecretary and treasurer. other directors are John H. Coles and Earl F. Nleman. This company plans to obtain option of as many popertles In the district as possible and by interesting sufficient capital to push development more rapidly than has been practical In the past. The unfirst work of the company Is being r dertaken upon the Bunbeam group of at a claims. Upon this property a surface depth of sixty feet from the twenty-six-fovein, which samples, according to Mr. Boulals. 6 per cent copper in and $6 gold, has been opened. .Now the company is driving a tunnel, already In ths formation approximately 140 feet, to cut the vein at a depth which will give 2000 feet of hacks. To accomplish this the tunnel will be driven a total distance of 1600 feet. Without a doubt, the mineralisation In the Blackbird district Is as extensive as any in the west," said Mr. Boulals The vein upon which Is sityesterday. uated our property, the Sunbeam, and several others. Including the ths Harmony and the Tormey. it Is said, can be traced for scores of miles. 1 recently traced It for four miles. In many places ths vein Is 150 feet wide. lAck of transportation for many years has handicapped development and has made Impracticable systematic exploration of the remarkable mineralisation However, apparent upon thein surface. with Improvement transportation facilities, those companies which have done development work, like the the Tormey and Harmonv. have met with most encouraging results. Now there Is a report that transportation facilities will he Improved by the railroad extending Its line. The success of the Bradford voUitillxa-tlo- n process demonstrated by the recent mine Is sigtest run st the nificant. It proves that we can treat our ores st a low cost and thua make mining Qperaliona profitable where'lt was not poaslhle before by shipping. It Is the Intention of our company to build a volatilisation plant upon the Sunbeam property aa soon as suffVtent ore reserves to justify such work have been developed." Shipments tiiis week are expected to bring better returns. A total of ten cars were shipped from the mine last week, according to Mr. Evans. A sample of an exposed of ore bank in the east bin at the mine taken from the top for ten feet down towards the gate assayed 20 per cent lead and 47 per cent silver, according to a report from C. M. Evans, mine superintendent. This sample of ore, a mixture from raises No. 8 and 10, is probably better than all of the ore will average, according to Mr. Evans, inasmuch as some of the ore from No. 10 is quite low giarip. Mine cars obviously of shipping grade have not been sampled by Mr. Evana, but seven cars of black ore which, appeared to be the very base, gave an assay of 10.3 per cent lead and nine ounces In silver. cars A sampling of twenty-on- e ore gave an assay of similar of 10.2 per cent lead and twelve ounces of sler. Another assay of yellow ore of verv doubtful looking value gave an assay of 13 per cent lead and sixteen ounce of silver. An assay of the fine taken from ninety-on- e mine cars ran 12 ounces of per cent lead and twenty-si- x taken from thirty-fiv- e ore silver. Similar cars from raise No. 8 showed values of 28.3 per cent lead and twenty-nin- e ounces of silver, according to Mr. Evans. Inasmuch aa these assavs were made of e hpsd appearing oie, and as no was mixed m these samplings, officials of the conipanv are greatly encouraged with the results of these tests made to determine whether shipping of ore showing so little promise would pay. ll cross-sectio- n BOSTON STOCK QUOTATIONS.
