After brief dieruaeion the house today adopted resolution providing for adjournment of congress sine die Saturday next at 4 m. and sent it to the senate, where elm lar action is expected by leaders, prob ably tomorrow. No record vote was taken, and some IV moo rata, opposing the resolution, were unable to force a roll call. Failing In thle they vainly nought a reconsideration, but were defeated, 129 to 62. Along with the formal action on the adjournment measure both senate and hduse adopted speed-u- p programs to clear away a masa of legislation. Three men are dead and two others wounded as a re suit of an attempt of three alleged sugar thieves to escape in a motor car between Commerce, Okla., and this city this morning. The dead are Norris Chandler, manager of a wholesale grocery company here, O. B. Vanderpool, a Joplin, Mo., detective. and J. J. Lynch of this place, one of the alleged thieves. W. M. Hawkins of Miami and C. B. Woods. Pither, Okla., srocer, are wounded and held in Jail In Jonnecijon with the case. Lynch. Hawkins and Woods were arrested when a truck loaded with sugar, believed to have been stolen, reached the Woods grocery early today. Lynch and liawklns were handcuffed together and placed in Chandler's car. Is said to have drawn a revolver and killed Vanderpool and Chandler and was himself fatally wounded in a gun fight with his captors.
