P. is waking up the latter company to a sense of their Interests. Should the Black Hills excitement prove real, we may look for the speed building, from CHnne of tho Bear Lake road, and it rapid extension to the region of the mines and its building eastward as fast as tho necessities oftbe require. The Central Pacific Company have it in their' power to control the trade and travel of the whole of the northern mining region and successfully divert the same to California. The whole of that" region will naturally seek an outlet towards a coun try whose interests and industries are identical with their own. And the successful miners will1 seek an investment ol their surpu means in a country n t frozen up with Arctic winters, or, eaten up in summer with insect pests. The future great metropolis of America must at no very distant day be located on the coast. The mighty 'mineral Pacific country extending" from 'Alaska along the whole western slope, diversified with productive plains and valleys, drawing to itself the trade of the Indies, will bui'd up a grand empire and the avenues of travel 'Will be built with reference to the future. The protective tariff Indian lovers of the eastern coast are fast alienating all their friends, and the whole West will eventually become one in Interest and the routes of travel will con cent ra.e at some point on the Pacific. Then a creat inland city tnnst be built in our valley which shall be a distributing point for the northeast and south. Weare vitally interested in the success of the G. It is true that I have spent considerable of my own time and money in the attempt which so far has not proved an entire success. But I was not before aware that a mans honest ef f.rt to improve hi property and indirectly the neighborhool in which he lives is a legitimate subject for and unfriendly criticism.
