The the 24th to meet at the call of the President. While it could not be expected that all would agree to any one plan proposed, 3vt it- - appears that nil are willing to abide the decision of a priority of the Convention. The principal work performed by the Convention was the appointment of committees, the most important of which w9 created and instructed by the following resolution: Resolved,- - That a cnmrnitte of one from each county, to be selected by tile delegates of each county represented, be appointed, whoso duly it shall bo to solicit proposition from the Northern Pacific, the Utah Northern, the Portland Dalles and Salt Lake, the Central Pacific and tho Union Pacific railroads,-anall other companies broking to early railroad connection with tho Territory, and that said railroad company bo requested to submit to the committee, for the consideration of tho 'Legislature of the Territory, propositions designating to what point In the Territory. the3 will build their respective roads, the amount of aid they will each require, the time iir which they will comp ete their road to points designated, and the kind and nature of t! o security they will gie for the faithful earning out of their respective propositions. A number of schemes were discussed by the Convention ns to what road would bring the grealeot benefit to tho Territory. Tha Northern Pacific, ns n natural result, was the read most desired, for no other road could be constructed that would reach as great n. portion of the TerrUor and give ns direct a route to the business marts of the world. But it is vain to sigh over anything that cannot be accomplished, or talk of what Unfortunately, might have been. not only to Montana but to the whole country, tho Northern Pacific railroad has failed, and it will be a long time it can resume operations. Too many broken fortunes throughout the country are charged against it for it to find immediate money to complete the work, but in time it will certainly succeed. Tho people of Montana seeing this adopted the following as the sense of the Convention : Resolved, That it is the true interest d comof the Territory to munication with the outside world at as early a daj as possible, with due regard to the expense to the Territory, and that tho.msd which will confer this is the one which- the people of the Territory can most sensibl3 aid to the extent of their ability.
