Mail: If you have such a thing in your office as a copy of the Statutes of Idaho would-y- ou please do Brother n Chawles tbe favor to furnish the same to him for a week, in order that he msy be enabled te advise his Franklin friends how to escape the clutches of our rapacious Sheriff. No doubt but that after a weeks hard study he would be competent to deliver himself of a learned disquisition on the subject of Sheriff s fees in delinquent tax suits, and perhaps furnish another plan for bursting up the ring in Oneida county; and besides, he might find other interesting subjects which properly digested might furnish food for thought to his hungry subscriber in Cache Valley for a considerable space of time. For instance on page 325, Statutes Second Session, he would find a section which reads as follows: Sec. 127. Bigamy consists in having two wives or two husbands at one and the same time, knowing that the former husband or wife is still alive. If any person or persons within this Territory, being married, or who shall hereafter marry, do at any time marry jnny person or persons, the former huband or wife so the person being alive, offending shall on conviction thereof paj a fine not exceeding one thousand dollars, and be imprisoned in the Territorial prison not less than one year nor more than fire years. It shall not be necessary to prove either of the said marriagts by the register and certificate thereof, or other record evidence, but the same may be proved by such evidence as is admissible to prove a marriage in other cases, and when such second marriage shall have taken place without this Territory, cohabitation in this Territory after such second marriage shall ba deemed the commission of the crime of bigamy. ft Tho subject of tbo formation of a new Territory out of portions of Utah, Wyoming and Idaho is being agitated seriously, and will toon be brought beforo Congress for its action on the sujecL The proposed boundaries ere, commencing at tho point where tho 41st parallel is intersected by tho 109lh meridian, and running thence north on said meridian to the 45th parallel; thence weston said parallel to the intersection of the 114th meridian; thence south to the 41st par allot, and thence east on said parallel to the place of beginning. The section of country embraced by those boundaries is one which is identical in interests, and is capable of building up one of the richest States in the Union in a very few years. It contains within its borders the most extensive coal region in tbe world. Its iron mines are second to none. About Soda Springs are immense deposits of sulphur. West and north of us are extensive silver mines. Stretching through tho proposed Territory from north to south are the great valleys of Bear River, Cache andtMalad; unsurpassed in the world for fertility of soil and salubrity of climate. Ninety-nin- e one hundredths of the population are desirous of the change, as it unites localities whose interests are identical. We of this section have no interest in common with Salt Lake City and the other saintly settlements south of there. We hall have more to say eti this subject, and will endeavor to show tip the resources of the country and tbe reasons why action should be taken in the matter immediately.. Meanwhile we say success to the embryo Territory of Cariboo. a. 4i cuctyus czz: sissori, , dgllace a ) W 11 0AL O LC E 4 AJtO , GROCERIES I.
