Gardner of Pine Valley were home missionaries to St. George last Sabbath and occupied the time at afternoon services. Each bore a firm testimony to the truth of the gospel, and told of the power of faith manifested in healing the sick. After devotional exercises the Sacrament was adminstered by EldersWm. Webb and George Cottam. Bro. Wm. Snow was the first speaker. Said that the previous Sunday two brethren from St. Ceo'rge were fill ing an appointment as home missionaries in Pine Valley, and today himself and Bro. Gardner were in St. George on the same business. The Speaker told of the testimonies he had received of the truth of the gospel, the healing of the sick, etc.) and said he was just simple minded enough to attribute these miracles to the power of God. Told how when he was sick and doubled up so that he could not walk for weeks, he had been healed by the prayers of his mother, and that so instantaneously as never to be forgotten. Admonished the people to read the seventh chapter of Moroni from the Book of Mormon Said Spoke of the evil of swearing. profanity was an American evil, and that he had heard people who had traveled extensively say the Mormon people indulged in the evil more than any other people he had met with.. During this winter, while the farm work and other cares are not so pressing, is a good time to talk St. George about waterworks. should be the next town in the state to seek this much needed improvement, and when we secure it, by all means let it be by municipal ownership. With the Cottonwood water p ped into the city, real estate would almost double in value; there would be much less sickness and fewer deaths; every family could have a nice lawn and flower garden, and at the same time save considerable of the v ater which wastes by evaporation and seepage, and with this Water other lots Could be brought into cultivation, furnishing more homes for the young people who are growing up amongst us; a fine electric light plant could be operated by the water as it drops over the brow of the lull, furnishing light and power for the entire city; as a protection against fire, the plant might save the price of itself in one night, during this dry weather, or common here. All these and many other advantages, Including the saving of 'labor, could be cited It is really in favor of the move. and should receive necessary, careful consideration.
