He married Kathe Keys in 1985 and lived in Boise, Indianapolis, Ind., and the Orlando, of his life. 435-259-01- Rapids, Minn., he moved to Idaho as young child and was a 1976 graduate of Boise High School. He loved Boise and the Idaho and friend husband, died April 25, 2005 Montrose Memorial Hospital of metastatic colon cancer. He was 47 and courageously battled cancer for the last year Florida, area before they found their true home in 51 Montrose, Colorado in 1996. He was an EMT and clerk in the Montrose Memorial Hospital emergency room and worked for the Montrose Ambulance Service. He was active in the Montrose County Sheriffs Posse and Search and Rescue. He was a fine athlete, Providing exceptional service at a reasonable rate. Margaret Jeanne Shaffer (ne6) Parker left us to join Our Lord April 30, 2005. Jeanne was born on January 1, 1916, excelling in numerous sports, and loved camping in and climbing the mountains. Dave was a great father to their son, Casey, age six. Dave never met a stranger and was loved by all who knew him and had friends all over the United States. She grew up in Thermopolis, Wyoming and at age 16, eloped with her love, Cecil Burdette Shaffer (Cec), to Red Lodge, Montana. The young couple returned home, where she continued school and graduated Valedictorian of her class from Thermopolis High School. They set up their first home in Wyoming. After 51 years of marriage, Cecil preceded Jeanne in death in May of 1983. Jeanne continued to live in Fruita and volunteered with Meals on Wheels and the Senior Center. She joined Grace Community church and enjoyed singing in the choir, missionary work and Bible studies. She lived in the Wil- Assisted Living Home for five years until the fall of 2002, when she came to live in Santa Maria, California to be near family. During World War II, the little family moved to Richmond, California where Jeanne and Cecil worked in the shipyards. In 1944, Cecil traveled by train ride to Western Colorado and returned to Richmond announcing their ownership of a ranch five miles west of Fruita, fondly remembered as Bull Mesa. In March of that year the family traveled in their 1932 Chevrolet sedan (which had been pulled out of the' San Francisco Bay), battling deep snow and cold weather, through the mountains and plains to reach their' new home. John Roy Shaffer, their third child was bom in December. The family learned to love Colorado and stayed there for most of the rest of their lives. The couple enjoyed belonging to pinochle clubs and danced together every week at community dances. Jeanne joined the First Baptist Church, serving as Sunday School teacher, choir member and Missionary Society member. She was a Rebekka and Eastern Star and enjoyed memberships in Congenial Janes and the Sew and So Club. In 1953, the family moved to Moab, Utah where Jeanne was the Business Office Manager for Midland Telephone Company. She continued her devotion to her Lord serving at The First Southern Baptist Church. In 1958, they returned in Colorado, having acquired a & Insured |
