The mens portion of the championship includes four divisions, club champ, senior club champ, net club champ, and the new super senior club champ. Ross Tabberer jumped out to an early lead on Saturday firing a tournament low two under par 70, which' meant he would lead the final foursome on Sunday. Lurking in that final foursome were Jeff Flanders, Dave Boger, and Hank Rutter. Ironically, these three gentlemen were also contending for the senior club champ title. Rutter and Boger made an early charge on the front nine, but Tabberer remained solid and still held the lead thru 27 holes. Flanders, physically unmatched in the foursome, folded like a cheap suit and faded into the sunset. Tabberer appeared to be in complete control until they Boger a chance, but they were unable to capitalize. Ross Tabberer went on to win the club championship by two strokes, avenging a controversial club championship decision in 1975. With the club championship out of reach for Boger and Rutter, they turned their attention to each other and the senior club champ title. The two players battled and coming down the 18th were tied. Rutter played an aggressive chip and wound up with a bogey. Dave Boger neck-and-ne- ck calmly stepped up and drained t a par putt and claimed his first victory. The net club championship featured a number of pretenders and only a few contenders. Ivan Winder blistered the course with a winning score of 131, while perennial net favorite Ken Robbins finished well back in the pack. The womens division offered few surprises as the big four battled it out for top honors. Nina Christopher set the pace with a first round 76 and never looked back. Brittany four-foo- continued on Sunday as she tied the womens course record with a 73 and claimed the 2004 womens club championship. The senior womens division was another epic battle pitting reigning champ Mary Ann Murray against Carol Martin. Mary Ann was also seeking the elusive but Martin had other ideas as four-pea- t, Kwanza is a great occasion in Africa and in the U. S. - which she looked to get her name back on the board. Martin got off to a quick start on Saturday and claimed the lead. Murray stayed close, but Martins lead and steady play was too much to overcome and Carol Martin claimed the 2004 senior title with an impressive 166. The womens net club championship was a wide open contest. When the dust settled, Sue Axtell emerged the victor with a nine under par 135. Now that the 2004 edition of the club championship is put in the history books, there is no time like the present, to get the game in shape for 2005.
