Asked what 1 Fran Townsend that the request could be lumped in with others at a single November public hearing, since the money was already in a travel council carry-ove- r account, and was not citizen tax dollars, but collected transient room tax. Townsend said, go IT V h would happen if the council voted not to approve the hire, Liss said, If not, R&R has put in a lot of free time. The council will also have to approve the MATC boards likely vote to hire R&R as agency of record before that free time is paid for. R&R marketing officer Tim Williams told the board there was no money in the brochure, and R&Rs presentation was clearly geared towards the agency contract. Still, the deadline for that RFP is March 4; while the travel council may have its sights set on R&R, there is no guarantee theyll be hired. During the R&R presentation, DeLay told the advisory board that the $40,000 transfer was not yet confirmed, but on Feb. 27, she said, So when On March 1 st, 2002, Colorado beat Utah In the Lasaloppet State Cup in Moab. The sudden loss of our son has been very hard for us. as it would he for any parent, but with the help of all of you, it has made things easier to hear. To those special people that helped us get our passports, and arranged our flights, and took care of us in other ways, so that we could go to our son, to he with him in the end. you will never, ever know just how much that meant to us. We had little to do but hold each other and pray. There are so many people to thank, and there are no words, or anything else that we could do in return to repay the kindness you have shown us. And the wonderful people of Paris who helped us tremendously, who took it upon themselves to assist us in so many ways, and also felt our pain. And all of you. friends and our families who prayed for us. and our sons, who called, sent food, flowers, cards, donated to Marvin Jrs fund, or just did what was ever needed tohelp us, we wilt remember your kindness, love and support forever. We hope all of you know just how muehdaeh and every one of you mean to us, your words of encouragement during this time was overwhelming, we always knew we had a great community, we are all so blessed, and we have all of you to thank you for that. -- Marvin, Bobbie, and Aaron Day Eye Surgery Close to Home! Byers, MD, PhD Eye Surgeon they decided to hire this agency, we knew we had the 40 thousand dollars and the 12 thousand originally in the budget. We know we have $52,000. On the same day, Feb. 27, Townsend told DeLay the state auditor insisted that a public hearing be held to reopen the budget and request the transfer. On Tuesday, Knight questioned whether a separate budget hearing on the issue is really necessary. Knight said he discussed the problem with Grand Countys auditor. He said yes, that is the technical procedure, but we dont do testing in those areas when we give the audit. As long as the books are in order when we do the audit, we wont give a negative audit, Knight said. Havent we, in the past, only had one public hearing to reopen the budget? Townsend acknowledged that in past years the county has only reopened the budget once each year, but she said the state auditor made it clear that individual budget hearings are required. I done correctly. The council will hold a public hearing on March 16 to take community input regarding the $40,000 funds transfer within the MATC budget. Meanwhile, no date was set for the council to hear presentations from advertising agencies who submitted bids to produce the travel guide. Langianese said the council must jump in when county regulations are being violated. Its our responsibility to make sure the rules are being followed so it doesnt come back on us later or create legal problems, she said. MATC board member Levin agreed, but he said so far the county has not provided clear guidelines for how the board should proceed. We need to follow the county procedure. Do we have to start the RFP all over, he said. I still havent seen an RFP procedure. If the RFP was invalid I would suggest we abandon it. We were just going on what we were told. At this point in time, if we are at ground zero... I think thats okay. But to think were going to get a new brochure done by mid April - thats not possible. All we want to do is increase tourism into this community. Councilman Rex Tanner chided his colleagues for being reluctant to rely on the expertise of MATC board members. OO ( 0 ( ( o0y 0 I o Q 11 Its funny how the county council deals with these boards. The county council appoints people to the travel council board because, in theory, these are people who understand marketing. They are our experts when it comes to marketing and promotion, Tanner said, adding that in recent years the council has paid little attention to the MATC boards decisions. The It Care ve idea that because weve had a change in personalities on the MATC board were going to jump in and take a leadership position seems strange to me. you've ever wondered what it's like to be a pro cyclist, this is your chance close to home A DOCUMENT FEATURE-LENGT- Allen Memorial Hospital is proud to announce the addition of Eye Surgery to the list of services available in Moab.
