Show CURRENT EVENTS AT BINGHAM HIGH by Darlene Gilbert TOUR OF DESERET NEWS HIGHLIGHTS OF NATIONAL NEWSPAPER WEEK Twenty students of the Journalism Journ-alism Club took a tour of the Des-eret Des-eret Newt last Monday, October 16. The tour w taken in connection with National Newspaper Week. Under the direction of Bert Janaen, the following students went: Sid Snndstrom, Vauna Lee Deakin, Carolyn Car-olyn Beckstead, Linda Peterson, Mary Gaye Moutley, Darlene Gilbert, Gil-bert, Connie Lopez, Wayne Bate-man, Bate-man, LuVera Mae Plntt, Marjean Brown, Barbara Jo Rubright, Beth Westwood. Noreen Crumn. Marinn Bills, Judy Osoro, Dennis Nichols, Sharon i It-It, Claudia Bone, Annette Rindlesbach, and Sharon Schmidt. JUNIOR CLASS Juniors were measured this week for school sweaters, under the direction di-rection of junior class officers. HACK MILLER SPEAKS TO STUDENTS AT ASSEMBLY TUESDAY Mack Miller, sports editor of the Deserct News, spoke to students held last Tues., day, Oct. I 7. His i talk was very in-; in-; teresting and en-j en-j joyable as he discussed the im-j im-j portance of free dom of the press. , Also, short film followed his Darlene Gilbert speech. MOVIE A full length movie was presented present-ed to the students upon payment of their parent's P-TA fees, Wednesday, Wednes-day, Oct. 18. Everyone enjoyed the movie. FOOTBALL Bingham M'gh Miners won their first league game by defeating the Tooele Buffs 12-10 in a most exciting ex-citing game played at Tooele last Friday afternoon. Bingham played Cyprus here yesterday yes-terday afternoon Thursday. For their next league contest, the Miners Min-ers play Murray at Murray next Friday, October 27. Boys' Club Officers Listed Boys' Club officers for 1961-62 have been announced and are as follows: Tom Rabb, president; Bob Hennings, vice president; Fred Allen, secretary; Jerry Blight, business busi-ness manager; Mike Kampros and Mike Sorich, senior representatives; Pat Dehlin and James Jimas, junior representatives; and Evert Bying-ton, Bying-ton, club reporter. W. Lee Skanchy is club advisor. First Hi-Lights Issue Out The first issue of the school paper, pap-er, Hi-Lights, for this school was distributed to students yesterday, Thursday. The paper contains various var-ious school activities, including sports, pictures, coming events, class and club news and other features fea-tures of interest to students. This year's Hi-Lights staff includes: in-cludes: editor, Sid Sandstrom; assistant as-sistant editor, Vauna Lee Deakin; feature staff Linda Peterson, Carolyn Beckstead and Darlene Gilbert; sports staff Wayne Bate-man Bate-man and Mary Gaye Mousley; art Barbara Rubright and Connie Lopez; Lo-pez; reporters LuVera Mae Piatt, Beth Westwood, Noreen Crump and Marjean Brown. Club reporters are Dennie L. Nichols, Claudia Bone, Karen Wilson, Linda Moulton, Annette An-nette Rindlesbach, Linda Dallinga, Judy Osoro, Sharon Helt, Marion Bills, Sharon Schmidt, Jane Saibara, Vicky Robert, Cheryl Cochran, Evert Byington, Sherrie Cowdell and Roger Bills. Bert Jansen is advisor. ad-visor. Student Directory Out BHS students received their student stu-dent directory for the 1961-62 school year this week. The directory direc-tory is in book form and contains 64 pages of printed material including inclu-ding school constitution, parking rules and regulations and basic procedures for Bingham High, school songs and yells, football, basketball, wrestling, track and baseball schedules, and name, address ad-dress and phone number of all student and faculty members and administrative staff as well as that of members of the board of education. |
