Show STATE FAIR AGAIN MAKES PLANS FOR BEAUTY CONTEST The most beautiful girl not the most talented will win the Miss Utah State Fair contest this year. This became a certainty today with the announcement by Ann Parson, Logan, contest director, that selection of Miss Utah State Fair will be based on good character, char-acter, poise, personality, intelligence, intelli-gence, charm and beauty of face and figure. Previously, beauty, and the other oth-er fine qualities, have had to share spotlight time with talent of the contestant's own choosing, in a three-minute routine. Mrs. Parson explained that the decree to dispense with talent is in the interest of time and following a national trend in such contests. She warned that deadline for fil- ing or official entry blanks for the contest is not far away August 29. Blanks must be accompanied by photographs of the candidates in formal dress and bathing suits and mailed to the Utah State Fair Assn., Utah State Fair Grounds, prior to midnight on that date. She pointed out that the contest, con-test, to be held Sept. 12, sixth day of the fair, is open only to winners of contests held during fairs or celebrations in Utah's 29 counties. Just one queen from each county is eligible, she explained. Contest winner will be awarded a waiver of tuition for one year by Utah State University at Logan and $200 by the Fair Association. First and second attendants will each receive $50.00. Contestants will register at the Hotel Utah Sept. 10 and be guests of the Fair Association. |
