Usually its too late by then and if the data isnt properly backed up and stored safely it can be lost forever. But even if data is backed up, theres still more that you can do to prevent the fatal crash: Shrewsbury exhibit now at Dan O'Laurie Museum tion from 7 to 9 p.m. The images arc portraits of the people and the landscape of the Colorado Plateau. Many of the images are local and regional friends. The them for the show has too roots. The first is a quote from a Navajo guide named Herman Atene who remarked during a magical discussion with his guests near Rainbow Bridge, "It's the land that makes them talk this way." That idea stuck. This land has had a tremendous effect on all who venture here. "I know it has on me," said Shrewsbury. "I try to capture that power in my images." The second aspect of the show came from a desire to say "Thanks, to all the amazing people who have lived, worked, played, and cried with me in this country," he said. " All of the portraits are of people who have in some way enriched my life. These images are not meant to be a definitive list of all my friends. Some I have no photographs of (which surprised me). Others, the best shots were in black and white and did not mesh well with the color, he explained. "Still others were taken inside and I wanted the land to be present in all of them. Finally, all these special people would not fit in the space available at the Dan O'Laurie Museum. Those those who are absent I apologize. Said Shrewsbury, "The majority of my photography is of a commer- problem areas that may become problems in the future, deteriorating low-levformat, etc. Diagnose CHANGES Petra Computer Services, as many of you know, has undergone sdme changes this past summer. Changes like a new owner for handling customer complaints and writing newspaper columns; new management, including a new service manager as well as one more serviceman so that we now have four technicians for repairs, field service, computer assembly and customer support; a new and expanded shop for service work; full Novell authorization - which means a rather expensive investment in Novell training for our employees, but an investment that will be very beneficial for our customers in the future; new demo equipment to try out like Panasonic laser printers, battery back-u- p (go ahead and pull the plug) power supplies, and Everex 286, 386, and 486 computers; lots of new demo software from Microsoft, Borland, WordPerfect, Aldus Pagemaker; and even accounting and payroll systems that know how to fill out the redesigned 1990 W-- 2 payroll forms. We also have a new landlord and new carpeting in the store and shop (in return, our new landlord has a new computer and a new Panasonic laser printer). But not everything is new we still assemble and sell the same reliable Petra PCS computers at the same prices and most of the familiar faces are still here. Harold and Wendy have moved from remote southern Utah to remote northern Minnesota, but Jennie, Kevin and Sue are still with WHAT YOU CAN DO Place your computer where it wont be bumped. It doesnt take much of a jolt to knock a disk drive head out of alignment. "My reason for having a show of this type is for personal growth. It is quite enlightening to see a collection of work on exhibit noticing the flaws as well as the strengths. This exhibit is an exploration into the male and female aspects that make up our daily lives, the contradictions we face and the help we receive as we move through our time on earth. "I would like to thank the museum board and its members for providing a vehicle for creative expression in Moab. They have laid a great foundation. Museum support has come from a broad range of talents, some not artists or collectors in their own right, but knowing that their project was good and willing to support it with out being a perf- Dont move your computer without first turning it off and, if your computer has an older hard disk drive, parking the drive.
