Minerals West President Thomas Nielson stated that the property consists of 31 unpatented and 12 patented claims. A lease on the property subject to a 10 percent royalty is held by Minerals Creek. BoUpme .West has contributed $7,600 for an option to participate in a joint effort to develop and mine the property. Monticello-base- d The company may participate in and mining development operations with a 45 percent working interest in all metals produced, upon contribution of $500,000- for use by the venture, if paid by April 1 of next year. Participation by Minerals West, however, is dependent upon raising public or other financing by the April deadline. The Jarbidge Mining District was one of the last gold mining districts established in the U.S., when gold was discovered in 1909. During the three years from 1919 to 1921, the district was the largest gold producer in Nevada. Records indicated that 1,279,773 ounces of silver and 433,880 ounces of gold were produced by the district through 1949. Production records state the last significant production occurred in 1937, when 21,396 tons of ore were mined. Further development was effectively halted by the low priority given to the production of gold during World War II by the federal government. Nielson reported that testing and evaluation of the property done from 1977 through 1981 indicated a probability of substantial deposits of silver and gold in undeveloped veins, in addition to significant values contained in dumps on the leasehold properties. Reserves reported . . DEMEX, a Denver-base- d research firm, was hired to evaluate the property. The company reported that there should be some 80,730 tons of material in the dumps on the property, containing about 38,085 ounces of silver and 5,665 ounces of gold. The firm also estimated that there are about 14,500 tons of blocked out reserves containing 10,950 ounces of gold. Blocked out reserves estimates are based on data and although from 1921-2- 2 mining continued until 1937, DEMEX believes that most of the blocked out reserves are still intact. The companys belief is based on interviews with miners who worked on the properties, prior to their being closed down. DEMEX also identified 240,000 tons of ore in known veins with values of 2Vt ounces of silver and one-haounce of gold per o, lf n as p obably reserves.
